Maybe although it depends on how seriosu a player he is or aspires to be. If its for a twice a week knock about with your mates £80 is fine but if its to seek coaching and really develop your knowledge of the game to become a very good player you will need to spend an awful lot more £2-400.

Isn't Ebdons cue an old rack cue he found in his club? Its machine spliced. I've read articles where he said he tried many cues before settling on it. At the end of the day if the cue fits you it doesnt matter how much it cost.

Well, all that's fine and well, but you can find a good cue at that price range, no problem, Roy. I've seen and played with some very good machine-spliced cues at less than £100, and you can get a good playing cue from NorthWest cues for less than £200 - and those are quite good cues, just ask John Higgins!

This is why you should avoid the cues section Roy

True although I believe a hand crafted cue is the only option for me personally.

Your right I did. However, the difference between the two from the feel to the PHUT....is AMAZING. Less to do with the cueball is an understatement.

This is where it all starts ... a good Riley is all you need, then Parris! Buy Parris, they're wonderful ... I think I'll try a Wooldridge, just to compare, I've heard they're good ... now I've tried MW, I think I'll have a look at Trev, people say his finish is 2nd to none ... I'm going to try a different spec, perhaps a little lighter - I'll try Tony Glover, he's supposed to be good ... hmmm perhaps a little thinner in the butt'll make me hold the cue more lightly - I'll ask Robin Cook, I've heard good things about him too ...

Welcome, Roy, to the slippery slope!!
