What is your number 1 wood for splices?

What wood do you like to be used as secondary splices on your cue?

My favorite is snakewood.

I am working on a few cues and almost all of them have snakewood.

Burl is my #2 and then tulip #3.

I also like a wood called bocote and zirocote but they do not seem to be used at all on snooker cues.

What about you?

personnally I love Thurya Burr, or a figurative walnut.
have many snakewood cues...

Just used Pau Rosa and found it very very nice.

Im one of the Cocobolo lovers club. Apart from looking good its nice to work with and finishes nicely. Only problem is it darkens with age

Also another problem is the colour varies so much. At home i have pieces from very very dark brown, brown and streaky, Dark with reddy orange streak and bright orange.

Oh and i LOVE satine bloodwood!!

Yes, I love cocobolo, too. I had a few cues with a cocobolo butt, no ebony, and they look very nice. A nice piece looks like flames.

I saw a cue picture of a Trevor White made with pink ivory that was very nice, the pink ivory contrasts very well with the ebony and maple.

But snakewood is still my favorite.

Burl seems to come in all sorts of tones, some are very light like maple almost.

How about zebrawood? Anyone likes that?

yes i like zebra wood too,but my next cue is gonna be something in curly maple or birds eye maple splicings.

zebrawood smells like sick! it really does. can look nice but if you are using it stick a clothes peg on your nose

Cocobolo, Santos Rosewood, Kingwood, Tulipwood and Pau Rosa which I've recently discovered thanks to Dan. I also like Bird's eye maple and Curly maple a bit in spite of myself.
