Cue craft

Hi, I would like to get some comment on cue craft and Omin. I used to have cue craft sherwood and I felt really good with it. However, I had lost it. So I am looking for the new cue. I wonder if the cue craft would be the same as the one in year 1997? Or should I change to Omin cue? Can anyone give me a comment please. I love my old cue craft as I felt that it was very elastic I can play follow through or screw back easily.

Every single cue is different, so you'll never get exactly the same feel with another cue as with your old Sherwood, unfortunately. Personally, I feel that the quality of Cue Craft cues has decreased recently, and I think you won't find the same level of quality in their products now as in 1997. O'Min cues are very good indeed, and it's rare to find a bad one, however, their cues are generally on the firm side, so you might have to search quite hard to find as whippy a cue as your old one.

Good luck in your search, I hope you'll be able to find a shop or stockist who'll have a good selection of cues you'll be able to try out, and ultimately, find a cue with very similar playing qualities to the one you used to have.

You're right, it is very difficult. You just need to be patient and keep your eyes open. There are whippy cues out there, good luck in finding one where you are!

maybe you should get a custom made one. and on the budget of a cue craft style or o'min, you could get a decent cue.

keith is right. cuecraft aint the same as back then, but they are still good cues depending on what model you buy as some of them are actually real woods and not sprayed on like the others.

the sherwood had olivewood didnt it?

I was told that the Sherwood had ash or oak splicing from oak trees from Sherwood forest, as Cue Craft have exclusive rights to fell trees or to use wood from trees fallen in the forest itself.

ah interesting. perhaps u r right. my friend has one and i see it all the time. i just assumed it looks like olivewood. the badge however does say "cue craft sherwood" and has a picture of a tree. lol

I preferred the old Sherwood brass badges as it had the tree etched onto the brass as well as the name"Sherwood". It was the same with the older Marksman cues, they had 2 brass strips inlaid into the cue, with one badge saying "Marksman" and the other blank, and now the new ones have a cheesy pic of a Robin Hood look-alike. The new badges look cheap, even if they are not, and detract from the look of the cue, IMO.

yup know exactly what your saying lol.

theres that seller "potblack" on ebay that is selling an old marksman cue. its the one with the dodgy hand writing etched into it.

at least we know what the "true" quality ones are

Yes KeithinFance, my old cue was ith brass badge with tree etched. It was a good cue. But this model, the badge is changed.

Depends which Cuecraft you get. Some of the cheap ones are not made in the UK, I forget which ones. Their more expensive ones are pretty good. I've got a Royal Standard, which is the cheapest one that has specially selected ash, and they are handspliced in the UK. The other ones in this range are: Tulip Wood, Marksman, Phoenix, Sherwood, Baron, Royal Standard, Monarch, Regent, Coronet. If you are interested in getting a cue craft then I can probably get you a good discount as one of my practice partners sells, although his website isnt finished yet www.APCues.com ), he can get any of their cues for you.

It's a nice idea, but the new ones are still not a patch on the older ones we were talking about, unfortunately, even if they're "made in the UK". Perhaps finished in the UK would be more accurate?
