Butt diameter, Which to pick? 29mm to 29.5mm

Personally say there is a huge difference between 29 and 29.5....

I had an old sportshop cue which i liked the size of but having never tried anything different before I just asked for just a standard butt size when ordering my new cue. Im not sure which i prefer to be honest, if I got a new cue I think I would go 29mm (my current cue is 29.5) though whether this turned out to be a wrong descision who knows :P

But the thing that got me was the different in feel between 29 and 29.5, My current cue feels quite big to me, and my old one feels very small, I couldn't believe when I measured it and it was only 0.5mm difference!

I think im going round in circles here... so I'll just say its personal preference, I know people that like thinner butts and some that absolutely detest them

so you did try the difference. you feel 29 is better feel?

Personally I find a light grip easier with a thinner cue but its all personal preference on what feels right to you. But I know people that really hate thin butts, and people that hate thick butts so I think you need to try it and find out. maybe getting an old cue and wrapping tape around it until you think it feels right might work?

I think 29mm is a tad too small, 29.5mm is perfect for me. As you said before it's a very personal preference. My butt 29mm is ebony and I've tried my mates cue with the butt 29mm which is ebony with rosewood splicing feels smaller than my 29mm butt. Maybe the feel of the splicing makes a difference!

i dont wanna make a bad decision because i really want to find a cue to stick to.
what i really want is something that feels solid, very solid.
im used to playing 29.5mm but never tried 29mm. does mike or robert osborne do repair and alternations? do you know if they change butt diameters from 29.5 to 29. in case if im no longer pleased with 29.5

What cue do you have? I took my JP cue to Parris cues to alter my butt. Robert Osbourne is good too

dont have one. using my bro's. his is craftsman panther cue, 29.5mmm.

i am planning on getting one customized. but cant decided 29mm or 29.5mm
do you know any hk places that do good repair/alternations? im not particularly keen to mail it all the way to london.

I don't know any off hand, I'll ask my cousin in HK. If you do get a cusomized cue, try Trevor White, very good value for money and in my opinion top 3 cue craftsman.

i would say it really depends on your feeling and the size of your hand
the butt diameter of my 4 cues are around 28.25mm and 28.5mm
i just dun feel comfortable with anything more than 29.5...
i got small hands maybe

im gonna get a mike wooldridge cue. i feel slightly guilty because im using his money. lol (he made 500GBP from playing black jack at a casino, starting cap was 20GBP, i black mailed him because i would tell mom if he doesnt buy it for me)
i ordered one. but kept changing it from 29.5 to 29, and now 29.5 ...

i reallly want this cue to stick with me for a long time thats why im so hesitant/
