your cue's ebony getting more brown and brown is same as my Master cue of simialr price. This is because the ebony is not jet black afrcian ebony but is macassar ebony with black polish, which diminishes over time and expose the real colour of the macassar ebony. Nothing wrong, just cheaper.

        Hey thanks for the replies

Gettingbetter: thanks for compliments mate, I am due to collect it from my snooker hall today, see if it's any better. Didn't specify how many chevrons but I quite like the ones on mine as it's not too tightly spaced and not too much - else I get seriously distracted lol. It makes it alot smoother as well because of that. So no complaints there Yea do that mate, post yours once it's up! I hope your cue plays well too, and I'm sure you're aching for it!

mchpddl1: Oh ok that's useful to know. I did apply linseed oil which darkened the wood somewhat. So when the polish wears off the ebony shows yea? Well I'm quite happy with the macassar ebony for now, doubt the jet black ebony would make my play any better

Ok I better go hide before ADR147 skewers me with one of his many cues).

edit: Sorry I keep forgetting to say everything at once. Yea Thai_Son is correct Mr O, Stephen is located in HK, but same difference Very helpful guy in the email correspondences I've had with him.

I bought this cue from OriginalOmin website, based in Malaysia (higher postage costs) and run by this top bloke called JH Leong. Was eminently helpful with any newbie questions I had and when I ordered this cue he had five made with the same specs and chose the best one for me. He's got a great involvement in snooker, apparently he made a cue recently as well for Mike Russell and his late brother JC was the national coach of M'sia. I speak as a very satisfied customer and it was a genuine pleasure dealing with him as he specializes in O'min cues. Just thought I'd share this with everyone
I am lucky as my house is only 10 miles away from O'min factory. I have a few of his custom cues that I bought in 1999-2003. Well balanced, and still dead straight after some 5-6 years of not playing - keeping in cue cases. Classic, Ebony 3/4 size, with 6-inch extension. Have you tried Mastercues too? They are great too. Happy potting.

            Hi unclevit,

Lucky you! I'd keep popping into the factory just to see how the cues are made lol. I agree with the balancing, it is quite sweet. Completely unlike any other cues I have used, given that I have not tried Parris or TW. Mine unfortunately has a bit of wobbling (not sure how it happened, probably in transit) and I'm trying to rectify the problem by sending it to a cuemaker. Never tried Mastercues but heard a great deal about them. Hopefully after I get mine sorted it will stay straight lol

Yes, the good part is that I can drop in and try any finished cues before deciding to buy, or tracking my custom orders as often as I wish. Good potting [/I]

Yay just an update got my cue back from the local snooker hall, it's been straightened and given a quick refinish. Looks just as before and it is playing wonderfully so I'm one happy camper

Yea I had my reservations about the badge as well, and in fact was posting earlier prior to the cue arriving if it were possible to de-badge it. However, after seeing the cue in person it's not all too bad. Having said that, I'd still prefer a round logo badge but I'm not gonna fuss with it atm. The case was purchased from www.uniquecues.com (there is a english version of the site). Cost me £110 including postage from HK to UK, which I thought was a good deal.

Was searching for cases like that, but the leather ones (including Peradon) are usually in the range of £140-150. Would give an arm and leg for a Cheddar Classic aniline (tan brown colour) case but costs way too much for the cue I have The unique logo is embossed into the leatherette case, and it feels very sturdy and nothing moves in the case when it's all fastened up. The case took about 3-4 days to arrive after payment, which is pretty fast. Hope that helps

edit: while I'm at it, may I ask if I brought the cue to a cue-maker to be refinished (and oiled) will it retain it's glossy look after play? I know it's purely cosmetic, but just really want to keep my cue in a nice condition. Just applied a coat of linseed oil to the cue (looked a bit dry to me) and hopefully it turns out well.
P.110 total is a good buy if you get it from his agent. This name plate design is in the upper grade version, and the round one is lower grade. I have a few of his ebony. What I like most about Omin cue is they are well balanced. Good potting.

Hi also. Omin cues, have different retail prices, though on the same pieces. Walk in knowing nobody, one price, Knowing somebody there, another price, Recommended by their friend, different price. Thais are good in bargaining, and giving discounts. You know that don't U ?

Does that mean that all of us guys on here can get a Omin cue at a discounted price ?

that's what i heard in recent years. have not yet bought any cue from him lately. he may have a fixed wholesale/retail at the moment, but still i believe old customers can ask for discount. i might be wrong, but it happened as informed in the past. if you buy from an honest re-sellers, then those cues might have a good quality check before bringing in to their stores. economy is not good, so i guese price fluctuates. to me, yes i can get a slightly better price than many people.

                              Hiya,

Hey unclevit thanks for clarifying about the nameplate, I didn't even know that to be honest I just left it to JH Leong to place the order and choose the cue for me and he was very concerned that I get the best quality from him compared to anywhere else.

linglomsri: hmm I paid £160 for my cue which included postage (which was high) from Malaysia. It came with the black telescopic extension and the JH threw in the ebony mini-butt free as it was my b'day For what it is I'm very happy with it

Also, since I'm such a newbie, can anyone tell me if the ash shaft is of a good quality? I can't tell (only ever used cheapo cues hehe) from the grains or what I'm supposed to look out for. However, it is very smooth and what I like about the spaced out chevrons is that there are no "ridges" at all when you are addressing the cue-ball when bridging if that makes sense. The other thing I really liked about it is how it stays snugly to your bridge (or even the rest head), giving greater control on shots.

cant tell if a shaft is good just by looking. also the grains dont make a difference playability wise. as long as the shaft is reasonably stiff, id be happy with it.
