    Hi,
I got parris cue, and 2 chinese handmade 3/4 cues too. Parris cue is good, while only one of the two chinese cues has good quality. Chinese made cues quality depends on where you get it too. Plenty of good chinese made cues are now in UK stores. But you need to keep your fingers crossed to get a good one.
    It's in the Shaft

Hi Adr, could you explain a bit more why that is, and what is a right thing to do? thanks.
      Like a rolling egg.:snooker:

The cue may be straight but if the cue is not perfectly conical, when rolled the cue will wobble.

Well I can only say that my JP Special must be perfectly straight and conical, because when I roll it across the table it revolves absolutely flat with not a trace of wobble.

its about a number of factors not just the shape of the cue but also the flat of the cue, the weight of ebony is much greater than ash for example and cues are weighted in different places, i don't have the energy to type all the reasons why but rolling cues is a big no no and to all cue retailers and/or makers when we see it happen inside we think oh god here we go again!

My Mike wooldridge cue rolls perfectly flat on the snooker table also. But this is simply not the way to check it.

Thats true, snooker cues are not rolling pins.

it also depends on how flat the snooker table is. Some slates can be off levelled and you might thought a bent cue is straight.

As ARD147 nmentioned, the most sensible way is simply view from butt end and rotate.

I'm from Australia and new to the forum.

I would like your comments if I may.

Firstly, I ordered a cue from Dunn cues of England.

When the cue arrived I went straight to my snooker table to see what it was like. I did not even get to hit a ball, I rolled the cue on the table and found it was nowhere near straight.

I promtly sent the cue back to where it came from and thet refunded my money.

Second thing, I have ordered a cue from Parris cues from London.

They told me my they would give me a quote on the cue first.
I received an email from Parris to say the order was confirmed and the cue would be delivered soon.

I did receive an email from Parris but the main body of the email was blank.

I sent a further email to them asking them to confirm my order and they replied, saying me order was confirmed and the confirmation was attached.

From there, when I opened the attachment it was in some strange format that could not be read.

I have no confidence at this stage in this company.

Can any of you guys comment on my dealings so far with Parris cues.

The reason I ask is, Parris cues have been spoken of many times here and most people seamed to think they were reasonable cues.

Have any of you had a bad experience with Parris?

                    Many thanks,

                    I live in the States

I spoke to Mr Parris for 5-10minutes on the phone a few months back, planned out the cue I wanted with all the specifications, weght length etc. sorted out the down payment, got a email confirming the order and a order number #105,

A few months later I recieved a email, sorted out the rest of the deal and the cue arrived a week or 2 later-I really didnt pay attention.

Cue is 99% straight, the wood is 100% straight, there is a slight issue with the joint, I compaired it to my friends Parris cue, he has the exact issure with the joint and didnt realize it, he plays better than I ever will. So I decided that I'm 100% happy with the cue, I may decide after a year or 2 exoerience want to change something, this happened to me with American pool over the past 24 years I have changed cues for specific reasons, but my Parris cue as a starting point is more than good with me, I'm a pretty solid pool played and should have 50 break sooner than later on my table, I believe 80-85 is my potential. The Parris cue will do the job.

Thats my story and I hope the ansewer to your question

Roll it on a table if you like. Just don't check for straight that way

Really !! I have the same doubt, why ? I have seen top-grade chinese cues (P.50-70 for 3/4) that has the same splices like Dunn's one model, newly made, but blank on badges/plates. Dunn has to come out and protect this claim by sbsnooker
