I bought a wooden case from a guy on ebay in the end. Might not be as good as a proper cue craft case, and I didn't get a free cheap cue with it () but I like it. And it only cost me about 30 quid with postage.

Am currently really tempted to make my own wooden case, but I'm yet to find a source of some nice wood large enough to make the main body of it.

My case I bought... I'm tempted to decorate this case, but if I muck it up I don't have a spare case to fall back on, so starting from scratch might be better.

That is a really, really nice case, mate. I love it. It's quite unique, yet it's really good looking - love the texture and colour of the wood.

Personally I'd leave that one as it is, as it's such a nice case on it's own. Like you said I'd be more inclined to source some good wood and make your own from scratch. Plus it'd be more of a challenge and you can say it's 100% made by yourself, then. And if they're really good, you can make a few more and sell them on

It was plain waxed oak when I got it, which my flatmate kept calling decking lol... So I stained it a bit darker and waxed it and I was well chuffed with the results.

Thats the colour it was when I got it, you can see the inside too. Maybe not as high quality as the foam used in these expensive cases, but it keeps the cue fixed if you shake the case so what more do you want?

Edit: Oh and thats my hideous painted cue I had before my handmade one... Terrible to look at but quite nice to play with.

I really like that cue as well, actually. Which one is it? I might have to make a note of it for future reference.

                  Thank you

I've read a lot of good stuff on Welsh pool trading cues on here. I'll definitely keep them in mind when it's time to upgrade my cue.

Very nice cues for reasonable prices if you cant afford the top names. I personally love mine.

                    Oh and I love Tulipwood

good stuff HappyAsLarry ... in my opinion, the important thing is you have your own cue and as you play with it, you'll get used to it and love it more and more ...

I understand that lots of peeps want this splice and that splice of such-and-such made by so-and-so but it really isn't necessary ...

it's just whether you enjoy playing with *your* cue, enjoy playing however you play currently and perhaps hope to improve ... I'm not saying you should seek to improve but equally you can try if you want and surely having your own cue is important ...

my HB at snooker is a lowly 25 but I'm proud of it that seems pathetic ... but occasionally I play a bloke at UK 8ball who plays with a JP Ultimate ... I played him only last week, 2-0 to me - he wasn't well pleased LOL ...

                        enjoy playing, enjoy your cue

[edit] ... thought I'd better add I play UK 8-ball with a £20 Cannon Scorpion and snooker with a £120 Welsh Dragon from WPT and I love them both ... as some wit once said, it's not the tip at the front end of the cue you need to be worried about - it's the tit at the back end ...

yup, there are alot of people that believe an expensive cue will make you a much better player

Very well said, Dandy. Thanks a lot.

I'll stick with this cue for a while and see how it goes. Who knows, I might absolutely love it, play really good with it and never, ever want another cue! But we'll see. And I agree that you don't need an expensive cue, because it all depends on the person holding the cue, but it would be nice to have my very own custom cue, completely to my specification. Just because I'm a little fussy and I'd love my "perfect cue."

I've received an e-mail from Craftsman saying it'll be a week for delivery due to having no 59" in stock, so should get it the middle of next week.

The case and cue from E-bay arrived a little while ago and I was really, really pleasantly surprised. I'll see how it plays before complimenting the cue too much, but the quality is really, really good - much better than I thought. And it looks really nice. For the price I definitely can't complain!

The case is absolutely spot on, too. Really solid and sturdy. Bargain!

Having said that, I've decided to give the case to my Dad, too. The old case I had won't fit his new cue, so I'm giving him the case as well and I'll get the aluminum one off Craftsman, I think. I really do like the one off E-bay, it's top quality, but it'd be a waste as I'd have no use for the extra cue.

Thanks once again for all of your comments and help

Glad your happy and from the sounds of it you got one of the better ebay ones. Any chance of a comparison from your point of view between that and the craftsman when it arrives?
