Carom Cues

Has anybody tried using a Carom cue for snooker?
I have been testing this one (see pics) and although it was a bit short for me it played like a dream...........:snooker:

Whats is the difference between snooker cue and carom cue ?

I played with one until I´ve got the cue I have today. The basic problem is that the tip is too thick, which means you can´t put the same effect into a bottom draw or side spin. These cues are made for heavyer and bigger balls, and I don´t think you can controll your cueball as well, as with a snooker cue.

Me too, I was expecting a 13mm tip. I seem to have more control over my shots.
The cue is now on route to Las Vegas so I can't play with it now, but I'll get a few more, maybe with a 10mm tip to see what they are like.

Yes, but with much bigger and much heavier balls.

Whats is the difference between snooker cue and carom cue ?

Once I receive the snooker cue I have on order I'll be posting side-by-side photos of snooker, carom, and American pool cues. I'll also be posting comparisons of table size, cloth, ball size (and mass), and other info at the website in my signature below.

Carom cues tend to be short and thick. The ferrule is short and the shaft will typically have a straight taper.

If you use a carom cue it could be more difficult to judge whether you are striking the cue ball in precisely the spot you expect. If the centerline of the cue is aimed 10mm to the right of the center of the cue ball, then a larger tip will make contact with the cue ball in a slightly different place than a smaller tip would, assuming both tips have a (theoretically) spherically radiused profile.

This is a BCN cue from Spain.
Similar spec to the Longoni one

Still felt nice, lovely stiff shaft, just the tip too big for snooker balls.
