The JP traditional cue is only one piece or 1/2, not 3/4 liike that. It couldn't be made to measure because on the ”made to measure” cues is writen ”special cue”, ”paragon cue” or ”ultimate cue”, never ”traditional cue”, even it is looks like. So I don't think it is a real JP cue.
thats wrong if you ask him he will put a joint in for you . but you are right on its a 3/4 its just that its jointed above the splices instead of in the butt.
i am 100% sure i have seen that cue before on ebay and on tsf and it was believed to be a fake. but looking at it again if it is its a very good copy and parris did make some cues with different badges on he had a problem with his supplier and he made so many cues with a slightly different badge.
Thinking that your cue is genuine, but made from different contractor
I'll stick my neck out here and say its a copy.
One of my cues is a John Parris Traditional, in centre join, and I can tell you, both, the veneer colour and the badge are totally different.
Even the joint is somewhat different...The external thread on mine is threaded all the way, whereas the thread on that join looks like it stops short.
Anyway, thats my take on it.
The Traditional word on the badge suppose to stretch across isn't it? Can someone shed some light??
Thanks a lot.
Remember seeing this JP design on shelf in a department store in Bangkok recently, at a price tag of P.55 (sales section). Similar splices/color/design. If u have not yet bought it, then forget it. But if it's now in your hands, just try play with it, and if you like it, then it's worth any amount you paid
The thing with Parris copies being so 'available' down here, is mainly because of 'someone' that ADR has pointed out.
I guess that person gets away with the fact that Jp cues are not held in vast supply at billiards retailers, and a select few retailers at that.
This particular person puts them out there on ebay and buyers readily fall for the trap as they know no better....and its not the well informed snooker player that buys them, usually its the guy that knows of the JP's by reputation etc, and thinks its an awesome deal.
I have seen it soooo many times.....unfortunately, the blokes that buy them find it impossible to believe they have bought fakes.
Even when the differences etc are clearly pointed out.
...the tyranny of distance.
i imagine you have seen it on ebay seold by a seller called luck1au - i have seen the photo before.
second that. luck1au or somethin like that is on the forum i believe. tried selling stuff then never came back on. though there are plenty of members like that. just come to buy a cue then never come back on LOL.
ive seen his ebay shop. sells o'min and they're tips. seen him sell a stamford cue and cues from robin cook. wonder if theyre fake or not
