  • Glue on cue!

I stuck a tip on for a mate today and got a bit of glue on the shaft .(luckily not in his site!) any suggestion on removing it, or will it wear off in time?

I had meant to ask what kind of glue?

Something went slightly amiss! Edit. I'm sure 'burwatchampion' never makes a typo and I'll take his constructive input below on board. Hohum.

Try a bit of acetone, or superglue remover or even nail polish, as long as the nail polish is acetone based.

or maybe, remove the bulk of the glue with a modelling knife (running down the shaft) and then use really fine wire wool (AAAA grade) to remove the last traces and restore the shaft to A1 condition ...

whether it's superglue or epoxy reson or whatever, it won't be hard ... all these new fangled glues work by bonding two surfaces together ... they are really soft if they dry on one surface only ...

White spirit, but be careful - you could take any finish off thats on the cue too.

Perhaps lighter fluid would be a better solution.

Try using a stanley blade laying flat on the cue and with the back edge on a slight angle scrape the glue off

cheers. Tried a small amount of nail varnish at the time(didn't want to rub too hard!) It's more of a sticker mark than a lump of glue! Haven't got cue at the moment but will see him tomorow.

Had that prob b4. If the glue is lumped and dry then try to scrape it off wit a knife but use very little pressure so as to remove as little as possible at a time. It may take up to ten minutes to take off as much as possible. The aim is not to damage the cue finish or the wood. When u are satisfied that u have most off the glue of then use fine steel wool and finish off. Again do it using little pressure taking time
