Which wood is this?

If the cues are labelled 1 to 10 from left to right, I am talking about cue number 6. What wood do you think this is, I'm pretty sure it's rosewood, but I have never seen that deep and dark a grain in the wood before - especially not at such regular intervals.

I'm thinking of ordering an Osbourne, and I really would like to get some splices like this.

Could be one of a few. Could be Kingwood, but does not seem purple enough or Cocobolo as the colour range can be from almost black/brown to bright orange. Another is Honduras Rosewood. Personally id agree with Chatlag and go for Cocobolo but its not the typical cut used for a splice.

Kingwood.

It's not really an unusual cut, but it is nicely coloured and figured.

If you like the grain of this piece, then if you order a cue with this timber, you'll need to point it out that you'd like it done this way.
