        Spalted Maple. The lines and colours form when the wood is buried and fugus gets into it. The wood is then collected and stabilised for use.

            No its a friends of mine. But i found the wood a while ago and got round to getting it on a cue.

              Wow, that is really unusual and looks great.
              Do you know if the spalted maple changes color a lot when it ages?
              For my cue please a very thin ebony veneer instead or the purple one.
              I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

                              Yes, it was me.
                              I like spalt maple, very unique. Looks like an abstract painting.
                              Samad, I never said anythign about a spalt maple shaft, just the butt.
                              I can see why some people may not liek it though, if it is used in a large area. I perfer small piece for a single facing on say a burwat champion design, I think it would make a nice cnversation piece, and very unique looking cue.
