hi montrealer : thanks for the infor. the kids here are wanting to try it, so i will buy some for them. yes, talisman is a good tip, absolutely the 'same' omin's layered tan tips. i have many omin tips in my drawer. 11mm medium only. best $$ in this universe !!
i used one for about 2 months. (playing uk 8 ball) they are extremely hard. its now on a 8mm cue thats used for breaking. i think the biggest thing i disliked about them was, i really like a good covering of chalk on my tip, they really didnt appear to hold the triangle chalk. in fact whilst using the tip i switched the chalk to the blue master chalk. it seemed to hold on the tip better. i liked the consistant hit, but it was the chalk that did my head in.
I used one for about 2 minutes (also uk8ball) and hated it. I also found there was a problem with holding chalk, and I use triangle chalk, too. A lot of guys I know who play carom or 3-, 4- or 5-cushion billiards use them but with a special, very greasy dark blue chalk whose name escapes me.
I like a soft tip, one that'll let you bite into the cue ball, and so this tip wasn't for me. However, if you like a hard, consistent tip, then you can do a lot worse.
Hi All : thanks for inputs. very helpful. Last night I tried this tip on one of my friend's cue. Much harder than Omin's or Talisman's. Since the kids here are wanting to try, so I just bought 6 pcs. of this Le Professionnel for them. But not for me
Is there a way to mail order the Omin tips from Omin?
His system is down every now and then these days. How many do you want ? I have a few with me, and can share providing that you pay for postage to Australia. 1 tip (layered Tan Cue Tip - medium) is US$4- plus postage of about US$5. A box is US$35 (8 tips + storing box + air to Australia). That's all I can help. Please don't ask for discount. It's the cheapest in the World (I buy direct from his office) Absolutely Genuine, handpicked by his sister
Hi Unclevit,
Thanks for the quick reply and appreciate your offering to share. I probably will get 3 or 4 if you have that many available. Can you please email me on kwwat888@gmail.com so we could sort out the payment details?
I was looking for a review of these tips and came across this topic so here a re my two cents:
I bought three o these Le Professionnel tips, in 10mm. I fitted one on my cue, cut it to match the ferrule diameter and shaped it/ gotta say it was hard to go down the tip as the tip is really hard. Took me a lot more time than usual to complete the fitting.
So I tried it yesterday night and so far, it's not bad. I've always used Elkies before so it's quite a big change. The stroke is clear, strong . It takes the spin correctly and contrary to other comments above, my tip was holding the chalk pretty well (even better than my old Elkie) but maybe it's because I really took off a good amount of leather on top of the tip. I don't like playing with a 5mm high tip....Need to go smaller. So the inner structure of the leather was holding the cue very well I have to say.
Now, this is all I can say so far as I play really bad last night, arm totally rubbish, couldn't pot a damn straight pot lol so tough to get a good idea on the tip but it looks correct to me.
I'll give you more info later, once I will have played several times with it.
