  • Green Cue???

    calling cue buffs!!!

a mate of mine (yep i got 1) has and oldish cue but the ash shaft is like a chalk greeny colour, i thought this due to chalk dust but it is more or less over the whole shaft, not just up the tip end of the cue.
as you's have probley gathered i'm not very clever and told my pal i'll ask on here....... whats the situation??? can you get a greeny colour ash??? should he just soak his cue in the bath ?? or is the cue just too old and ready for bon-fire night???

    Cheers

Id say your right, tis probably ground in chalk over the years...what works for me is a towel with some real hot water and plenty elbow grease....until the ash colour returns.......try that!

Its worked for me for cue cleaning for the last 20 years!!! I wouldnt soak the cue in a bath of water....corner of the towel....pour maybe a half a up of 'just boiled' (or as hot as u can handle!!) water on one of the corners...and then wash the cue (not the ferrule and tip) in an upward and downward motion, squeezing as hard on the towel!!! If the water is hot enough it has very little or no impact on teh cue....as in when your finished at will be warm to touch but barely wet....leaving the ash clean. Like i say....works for me...and i have my current cue 12 yrs...and its as straight as the day i had it made!!!

Take it in the bath with you. Give it a good hot soapy soak then dry out on radiator.

Or search for refurb guides on here
totlxtc and ADR147 post good stuff or one of the cuemakers like Trevs1 or Mike Wooldridge.

The wettest thing used on a cue should be a damp cloth and then it should be wiped with a dry straight after.
