Help me choose a tip from these selections

I stopped playing snooker for a while because I couldn't find any place that could replace my ferrule and tip. This place is a pool store, but they also do snooker cues. Can I get some opinions on which tip and ferrule to put on my cue? I own a MasterCue Superb M3, 58" and I think 18oz.

Here is the list of tips and ferrules along with the prices.

I thought snooker cues use brass ferrules? Anyways, which tip should I get which will help improve my game. I am a okay player, but I haven't been on a table since my ferrule became loose. I hate house cues as they are really bad and dirty.

hey!!

really you should try a few tips out rather than ask whats best for you as it my not be best for others, however i'm quite a "hard hitter" and had plenty of tip trouble in the past (smashing the life out of them, most only lasting 3 weeks) but after many trials of different brands i found talisman tips (medium) work best for me!!!

Sorry if I made it seem like I didn't do any research at all before starting this thread, but I have read a lot the last couple days and I know I want a elkmaster tip and maybe a talisman after the elkmaster is used up to say.

I just want a direct opinion towards me. I play snooker every week before my cue need a ferrule replacement, but I was never really that good... average about 20-30 point breaks or so. I never even thought about tips or anything like that. I used the same tip, probably an elkmaster or blue diamond for ages.

What is the difference in hardness? I am asking this because I don't really know anything about details. All I know is I love my cue and I can play better than a lot of other people. So with that being said, I just want to learn a bit more before I take it to the shop. Hopefully when everything is fixed, I might even improve my game now that I have a better idea of the tip.

Elkmaster - These are often soft but inconsistent, you may get a firm one, rec.
LePro - Firm but poor quality and will often chip, not rec.
Triangle - Often very hard but great for 9 ball, not rec.
Water Buffalo - Very hard, not rec
Tiger Dynamite , I use a soft tiger for snooker and it plays nice, holds chalk well, a touch softer than the Moori, rec.
Molavia - sorry no experience.
Moori - best made tip out there, very consistent. Soft may still be a bit hard for snooker but your choice, I use a medium for pool, rec.
Sniper - sorry no experience.
Kamui - usually very hard and don't hold chalk well, not rec.

Talisman is another that I have seen delaminate often.

I do cue repairs but I am in Vancouver, where are you ?

Slasher's given you good advice, but I'd go along to the shop and press the tips between my fingers and compare to the firmness of the tip I normally use, and see which one(s) you like from that experiment ...

I will be at the Annex on Bloor St W on Saturday morning although I will be running a tournament so I would have to take your cue home with me to do the ferrule replacement and new tip.

The brass ferrule and its replacement would cost $30 and would include any tip except a Talisman (I do not have Moori or a few of the others). I would be able to complete the work within 2 days and you can either pick up the cue at my place (I have a table you can test it on) or I will also be at Shooters on Lawrence Ave East on Saturday Nov 7th and can give it to you then. If you want a coaching session in addition to your tip and ferrule we can arrange that too but it would be at my facility.

My house is about 1-1/2hrs from Shooters or about an hour from west end Toronto. Also, I would guarantee either the Elk Master or the Blue Diamond that you wouldn't get a 'spongy' one and the Talisman would also be guaranteed, but I would have to charge an extra $20 for the Talisman.

Hey Terry, thanks for the offer to help fix my cue. I actually live in Mississauga and I am moving houses soon so I don't know when I have time to do this. I will take you up on your offer to help me if I can. Can you please tell me what time you will be at the Annex? If I could, I will come by and drop it to you if my parents don't need the car. If that is successful, my gf lives in Markham so I know for sure I'll be able to pick it up on the 7th. Just give me the time frame for that day too.

I doubt I need to test it out as I truth you will take good car of me since it seems like you are a very knowledgeable person in snooker

I should get to the Annex somewhere around 10:15am or so (depends on traffic) and I'll be there until likely 8pm or later. However, I might be playing in a match when you arrive so you might have to wait. Just ask anybody to point me out as they all know me and besides I'll be the tournament director for this one.

On Nov 7th at Shooters it's about the same thing. I will likely arrive around 10:30am or so and be there for quite awhile (unless I lose my first match or something as I'm not organizing that one.
