heres a quick question for you how often do you sharpen your plane blade ?? or do you just wait until you get that heavy dragging/taring feeling ??

Trigger, I sharpen my balde about every other time i use it. I problem you have is if you wait for it to drag or split the wood instead of cutting it you might end up ruining youmaster piece! It never hurts to quickly take it out and run it over the stone!:snooker:

Welcome Mark! Nice to see another person giving it a punt! I started off in the same way. Can help you out if you fancy trying a bit of Pippy elm burl if your using local wood?

This is the bits and pieces i have been playing around with. 1st cue was tinkered with on the kitchen rug, then moved onwards...

As you know Luke, been there mate....on the kitchen floor, getting carpet burns on my knuckles from the rug. Luke, forgot to say i can get you some 3000 grit.....great stuff mate.
