I think the responsive aspect of the cue would depend more on the density of the shaft, taper of the cue, balance point, and may be tip size, type of tip...etc. For ebony splice in the 20" or so range the length should not become a determining factor in whether the cue hits dead or not.
In my opinion,if a 57" Cue,the ebony splice more then 22".
The cue will become Dead.The white ball will like a Zombie~haha~
