  • how to send cues during a postal strike?

question to cuemakers and players who need to send cues for repair..

    another strike in the uk:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8319169.stm
"Mail centre staff and drivers will strike on Thursday while delivery and collection staff will take action on Friday. "

this is just the government's royal mail right?

private couriers, supposedly, shouldnt be affected right?

well sort of correct - in my experience private couriers get so busy during royal mail strikes that there is often a slower delivery time.

In my experience, during a Royal Mail strike, the Royal Mail gets an enormous back log of parcels, and they can often get stuck in the post for two weeks or more. I'd recommend that you didn't use them for 2 weeks before the strike and for 4 weeks after.
The other trouble is that anybody and everybody that uses the Royal Mail for letters and parcels then use these strikes as a pretext for their own terrible service. (I'm thinking banks in particular).
If you use a courier service and specify next day delivery, then it shouldn't be affected.

no problem - needs to be a 3/4 cue though for length.

Just for future reference. Change the size to 140cm x 3.5 x 3.5 if you sending a cue in a tube. The price jumps up almost by double after 140cm. Means you can send a 1 piece round the UK in 1 day for £8.20.

I sent a cue to Canada via Interparcel recently. Total was £33.50. I also had a cue coming to me from 60 miles away via royal mail.

I sent the cue out on a Monday and they picked it up 4:30 that afternoon. The cue was delivered in Canada Wednesday morning. Meanwhile the Royal mail cue was sent on a Friday and I did not see it till the following Thursday. Plus the Royal Mails postage was £15!!

Easy to see why less and less goes by Royal Mail these days! Having said that when I get mail sent here by their registered airmail it is uaually fairly fast and a good deal cheaper than most couriers.
