  • ferrule and joint maintenance

have been playing with the same cue for a couple of years now...the brass on both ferrule and joint is not as shiny as it used to be.

is there anything inside the house to polish/clean them with?

how do u know a ferrule needs changing? and is there an actual way to prevent the wood inside the ferrule from breaking/destroyed overtime?

im scared that one day my ferrule breaks and requires shortening to fit a new one.

I'd not suggest steel wool or very fine emery (600+) as eventually they will take down the diameter of your ferrule.

If you can get a new 5pound note or even a 10 or 20 and use that. The linen paper will shine that sucker right up
