Ikea cues are the best that you can buy, Brendan .. keep a look out for them on Ebay. They're worth their weight in MDF. And good luck.

Eeeyyaaayyy....I never heard IKEA cue, but IKEA semi-finish home furnitures are very well-known worldwide. Hmmm....I am not into e-bay stuff most of the time. Will try it though...

                Thanks....

yes !!! two weeks would be plenty to build the cue but its finshing the cue that takes the time - oiling/sanding/drying time/oiling/sanding/drying time ect...
from what ive learned i would say that 3/4 weeks is a more practical timescale , to achieve the best finish ????? without having to rush anything imo

cant see it being possible not starting at 0800 with your timber blanks then you have cut/plane the splice glue one side (wait to dry) then splice second side glue and wait to dry then turn the whole cue down,
drill and weight cue and add sd joint (which would be nightmare if glue was still green),
still you have to fit ferrule sand -oil-(oiling alone can take a few days) and then your final sand/wax all by 1400 ????!!!
im not trying to pick an argument but 6hrs start to finish in one day i just cant see it ????!!!!
maybe 6hrs labour in total but not in the same day ???
please somebody correct me if im wrong but its sounds ridiculous imho ?? : confused:

i know a friend who got 3 custom made 3/4 joint cues (4x splice & veneer), done and ready within few hours, (includes fitting middle & end joints, splicings etc.etc.) but I think the shaft was pre-prepared, but the splicings were terrible to say the least... so it's very possible...
