A friend told me he had a John Parris cue that he purchased int he early 90's and the ferrule was not a slip on but featured the "star" shape (kind of like *) in the inner rim.
I personally have not seen any JO cues with such a ferrule, tehy all were slip ons.
Anyone know if John has used those ferrules?
The reason why he told me this was that his ferrule was then in need of replacing and the person doing it wracked the tenon so the cue was shortened.
Instead of blaming it on the person repairing the ferrule, he blamed it on John Parris for using such a ferrule.
Anyway, does anyone still use those 'star" ferrule these days?
