If i were you i'd take my 30 quid and get the old man's 40 year old cue re-tipped and spiced up. like alot of people on here have said, there's no point in spending a little bit on crap when a little bit more can get you a good cue.

Can i ask how old you are? Do you like snooker alot or is it just a fad to you like darts and whatever else you want for christmas.

Cheers big ears Sometimes i wonder what i might find if i took the time to search and look for answers for myself.

I still keep googling "2010 Tiger woods mistresses calander" a lingerie version would be really good to see, but i only need a calander for a year, not two

Craftsman cues do machine spliced cues for 60-70. I would advise saving up for one of those. It would be a lot better than anything argos sells

Thanks alot for your replys. Well, i played with my dads tonight and i loved the feel of it, just felt nice. By the way, the person who asked if i really like snooker, i used to play pool quite a bit but ive just started getting back into snooker the past few weeks and at the minute im loving it, cant get enough of it every day. I thought 50-60 quid would get me a much better cue than those from argos but i must have been wrong then i guess...
Ill ask see if i can just have the money and ill save a little of my own cash up for a better one. When i get a new one though im gonna get a shop or somethin to put a tip on for me.

Is there any problem with you using your dads cue? Like does he use it often or is it one he used to use?
If you like it maybe you could persuade him to give it you for christmas lol

Or you could save 70ish up and buy a craftsman machine spliced cue. http://www.craftsmancues.com/acatalo...ssic_cues.html

You get the 6" extension with them but have to buy the long one seperately. You can either buy the ones from craftsman at the bottom of the page or get a push in extension.

The craftsman have solid ebony butts glued onto the shaft rather than just a horrible paint job like most rileys nowadays. They are good value for what you are getting.

quick question, does anyone know what finish would be on the victor burr wood cue £65? is it likely to be laquered?

                      edit: from rgc's post above

                        how knackered is your cue????

it may be wortth spending the £30 on getting it repaired..... as you said its a cue craft cue yourself... you would be doing the equivalent of going from a ferrari to a morris minor going to one of the argos cues

its only the ferrule on the top, could do with sorting. Ive tried sanding it down but, when i put the tip on it just sticks on in the middle of the wood in the centre of the ferrule and you can see a massive gap under the tip if you know what i mean? Ive tried everything to get it so the tip goes on totally flat without any gaps underneath but i cant. By the way, i think its one of the cheaper cue crafts:snooker:

even one fo the cheaper cue crafts would be worth getting repaired properly, should only cost you between 10 and 20 quid to get a ferrule sorted and new tip... especially if tis a cue you like to play with already...

Cool, so i may already have a decent cue? Thanks. Have you got any idea at all how i could sort it myself mate? Do you understand what i mean when i said the tips only sticking to the centre of the wood and theres gaps underneath to tip and its not touching the ferrule or outside of the wood. Ive tried everything, and when you feel it the wood inside the ferrule feels flat to it but it obviously aint

your best bet is to take it to the local club and ask there about a cue -doctor or someone who does repairs...

they will do it for you, its a tricky job but wont take long.... if it isnt done in house, then you should have the cue back within a few days.... its cheaper than a new cue, one you are used to, and should still be better than what yo are looking at
