  • weight for a 1-piece cue

just wondered what the max weight for a 1-piece cue might be, without sacrifising good balance of course, i'm playing with quite a heavy JP (about 20-21 ounces) and thinking about switching to a 1-piece... anyone got some experience with 1-piece cues over 18 ounces (if its possible at all... )

I'd say it would be tough to get above 18oz on a one-piece without getting a butt-heavy cue.

Having said that, I have a one-piece Aurora which was made at 17.3oz but I added lead tape around the balance point to take it up to around 19.3oz and it hits beautifully. I've kep the balance point at right around 17in from the butt and I'll tell you how to do the lead tape thing if you want to go that route.

It looks sort of wonky but not too bad, but it works

yeah, thats my worry, sounds kinda problematic to get a heavier one without it getting butt-heavy...

cmon guys, anyone got a heavier 1-piece cue than 18 ounces? played a frame with a 18,5 3/4 cue today, felt ok, but i don't seem to get quite as much quality into the shot as with mine, but i guess its a matter of time to get used to a lighter cue...

Hi, understand your dilema. If you go for a 1 piece will the balance feel stange? However, there is an answer - it's dependent on where you locate the weight - e.g. how far frm the butt end. Also the different woods used effect it also. If you e-mail me the woods you like, tip size, extensions e.g. butt joint for mini-butt and or long ext., overall weight you need I'll mail you back with some details.. Dave
