Worth getting my John Parris refinished?

Hi everyone.

I see alot of people in the forum that are knowledgeable about cues so I was wondering if you could offer me some advice.

I am thinking about selling my JP exclusive an I was wondering if it would be worth getting the cue refinished by JP before I sell it.

The postage will be about £30 both ways and the refinish itself is £25. Would I make that back when I come to sell the cue?

Also, if anyone could offer any advice on how much the cue would be worth both as it is or refinished it would be much appreciated.

Looks like a nice cue from your pictures, could you not clean the cue and linseed oil it yourself? Don't think you would make the money back if you sent it to JP.

Hey Jimmy your cue looks stunning ! As for the ash it looks superb..Can you tell me how old the cue is ? And as for the finish yeh you would probable get your money back but is it realy that bad that it needs re-fineshed ?

I probably could do it myself but I am scared of doing something wrong. The guy in my local club used to oil it when he retipped it but the club has closed down now

I have had the cue for around 10 years and I think it was about 2 years old when I got it so 12 years.

Sorry i forgot to answer your other question. I didn't think the cue was bad at all but I have seen refinished cues listed on ebay and they do look alot brighter and cleaner.

I read on the Parris website that you can clean the cues yourself with mild detergent but I am terified of doing something like this that might damage the cue.

LOL maybe cue makers tell u to do stuff like that so it breaks the cue, n youd hav to go get a new one, or ask them to fix it! lol just a thought haha more money for them =D

Hi Jimmy. The cue looks in quite good condition so you may not get the cost of refinishing and postage back if you have it done. The new owner could always have it done later if thay thought it needed it. If you are in mainland UK, special delivery to me will only cost you about £8 to £14 and our courier charge for return is £12.00.

Is your courier charge still £12 for Northern Ireland?

Also, I don't know if you would be the right person to ask about a second hand cue but any idea how much I should get for it?
