  • Perfect Tip Shape

Okay ive had a good search and read through 3 or 4 different threads so sorry if this has been posted before but im just looking for some pictures or a picture of a perfectly shaped tip ?

I usuall shape mine with sand paper but have read that id be better of using wet and dry so will be using that to shape it hopefully tomorow before i play so if anyone could post up a pic of there tip or just a perfectly shaped one that would be great thanks.

Im not to sure what kind of tip i have it as it was already fitted when i bought the cue 2 weeks ago. although it doesnt seem to bad ive had worse it is quite thick and im think its a 9mm or 9.5 so im guessing maybe a multi layered 1 i mite be rong tho im no pro really just getting started.

Hi Disco...if you imagine that you have cut a cue ball in half from left to right (horizontal) then this would be the sort of shape that you should be trying to achive..when sanding or doming your own tip.
    Hope this helps you.

Have a search about for the tipping guide...(or words to that effect)...

Some people like quite flat tips some like overhanging the ferrule tips, some like domed, etc etc...try a few different shapes see what you like cos 1 'perfect' shaped tip might not be another players 'perfect' shaped tip...like most things in this game it;s what you feel comfortable and most confident with. you might feel you strike/get into the ball better with 1 shape better than the other.

Majority of players will go with the dome shape tho.

I dome mine nice and flush to the ferrule...:snooker:

Yeh had a good read of that link earlier i see one tip at the bottom of the page i may try and follow the shape of that mines isnt quite as dome although when i shaped it to what it is now i notice that im finding it easier to the the white straight of the cushion so it comes back to the tip. Maybe if i shape it a touch more as it could be doing with it i mite get more consistent.

What are the ready shaped tips like for anyone that uses them ? Such as blue diamond or are they only slightly shaped so u can do it ureself.
