  • Best playing shaft?

Have already used the search function before anybody says

Just wondering what's the ideal playing shaft? stiff/whippy but more on the stiff side? because i've read that cues which are too stiff play "dead". What do most people prefer

I prefer a moderately stiff ash shaft. Just feels a bit more 'solid' when going through with the shot.

I like a shaft that is firm but not too stiff, with a nice spring, with good feedback to the grip, and is responsive enough to allow the player to play the full range of shots.
Yes, personally I think a shaft that is too stiff is very hard to control the cue ball and lacks feedback, especially the soft touchy shots around the black. I also find that a very stiff shaft usually makes it harder to put lots of spin into the cue ball without having to force it.
Somehow I dont think Noel's shaft is suitable for me, the tip looks too hard.

I think you are talking about shaft as in per this link http://s699.photobucket.com/albums/v...oracues024.jpg. Yeah, I agree with you anyway. This type of shaft (as per the link) has very nice spring and it is not too stiff "dead".

              Cheers

how do you know the shaft in the picture has a very nice spring and it is not to stiff "dead". the grain on a cue has nothing to do with how it plays i have played with cues with horrible grains and the cue played very well and then played with cues with a very nice grain and the cue was crap. just like to know how you can tell all this from looking at a picture of a cue which even isnt your cue still spouting aload of crap eh brendan 147

                    what does ESP mean?

but still, i go with pj and got to say that giving a picture (relating to a cue's grain) and call it an example of a 'well playing shaft' is quite ... may I say simple-minded?

I just guessing...since the grains of the shaft in that picture remind me of my previous cue (which was a very good playing cue). Anyway, that cue of mine is sold few days ago.

By the way, even though the cue in that pictures is not mine, I believe poolqjunkie won't simply promote his "dead" shaft to us. SO PLEASE NOW, everyone is here and try to make healthy business as possible. If you are ever doubtful about the quality of the shaft as in that picture, you should ask poolqjunkie, not me. OKAY?

                        Cheers.

it's not about controversial comments, nobody has said anything bad about those cues, it's about you making random comments lol. How do you know that cue wasn't made for someone who likes an extra stiff shaft?
