  • More cue advice!!

I've been playing with a 2 piece BCE ronnie o'sullivan cue for about a year and I've been getting on quite well with it but I think it's time for a change.

The cue is perfectly straight and plays well but it's too light for me. Also it's varnished and I do get sweaty hands so am forever wiping it. I play a lot of 8 ball and starting to play more snooker and currently play with a 9.5 mm tip.

Ideally I'd like a Parris cue but i can't justify that sort of money just yet so I'm looking to spend up to £200 and was wondering what the best value for money would be.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers, Scott.

craftsman sell it at 195 and it's currently at 161 (or 172 incl p&p) looks like a nice cue too

If you want one new, visit maximum break and there are mastercraft cue+case deals for 147 and 153 quid - plus service/help is really good.

A northwest cue, a craftsman cue possibly or one from Welsh pool trading all under 200. List is endless to be honest most makers would have something for around this mark and there are some oversea makes O'min etc., to consider.

If you are on a low budget I would either go for a NW cue or pay a bit more and get a Stamford cue. Or save up your pennies a bit more and get a TW, Parris, Hunt and OB, Glover, DC, MW etc.,

If you make 10 posts contact (pm) a guy on here called ADR147 and you may get a really good cue off him for this much as he always has something good for sale and most people find him really nice to deal with. You might find someone else willing to sell you something too...good luck :snooker:

ttocs19 Green Baize Ltd also worth considering. I've asked them for a price of a custom made one. Welsh Pool Trading mentioned above have stopped making cues but there's a few on e-bay at the moment. Good cues. O'Min from Thailand starting at around £170/180 look great value. You can purchase via Unclevit on this forum.

cheers for all your advice. i've been doing a bit of research and it seems a bit of a mine field really.

i'm after a new cue and case and am a bit paranoid that there is a lot of rubbish out there. my mate just spent about 120 quid and when it came he said it was slightly bent!!

who is andrew by the way?

                        thanks for the replies.

when i started looking a lot of people have mentioned all different people like master cue, cue craft parris etc. but since being on here it seems like there's a lot more for the money. i think i'm gonna have to do a bit of research later. as long as it's straight, balanced well, has no varnish finish and is a little bit heavier then mine i'll be happy.

playing a lot of 8 ball some people say that a lighter cue would be better but i feel with the cue i have i'm always concious about the weight when i play the shot and when i picked up a heavier cue it felt nicer.

I'd expect it to go for anywhere from 80-150 looking at previous listings. That seller is the person that sells the cues regularly (James Butters himself or a relative / friend I assume as they also buy wood supplies).
I think this is the third cue I've seen recently with this or similar designs, as the last 2 were sold without badges I assume he got this one right to his satisfaction and put his badge on it.

80's a fair price to pay though if the cue is indeed as good as people say, although you did pick yours up for 40 or something lol bargain :P
