I've developed a nasty habit of checking the joint after every shot. If you've got the same joint its soemthing to look out for. Thinking of contacting Dave for advice. Maybe he could swap out the joint for a different one.
big meek your joint is different to mine mate. Joint i have feels really strong/secure.

It's like yours however the spiral bit (is it called a thread? lol i'm useless with terms) is pushed to the bottom, (3 of them) and there is a thick bit with a greater diameter than the actual joint at the base of the joint

          Mastercraft Cue Joint

Jonny Think my mini-butt has the same joint as yours (see photo) so don't know why the other joint is different. It might be something to do with getting the balance of the cue right as the butt joint is heavier than the other one.

Yea that's the one i've got on my minibutt, extension and butt, screw the mini butt into the shaft and see if it's more secure than your main butt joint, just to see if it's a psychological thing just in case

Give dave a call as you said

The mini-butt won't fit the shaft as they're both "male" connections. Won't fit the TOP of the butt either as they're two different types of joints. Confused? Just to clarify. The END butt joint is a nice robust joint like yours but the CENTRE joint is (IMO) a crappy cheap one. (Apologies to Mastercraft!).
Just in case its a psychological thing (definate possibility!) I'll get my mate to play a frame with my cue and see what he thinks. Means he'll beat me as I will have to use his old car boot Riley!!!

Maybe they do different joins for different kind of cues? because i've got a 3/4 cue with the minibutt-esque female joint in the shaft.

I don't understand what you mean by won't fit into the top of the butt?

Do you mean that the male joint on the shaft doesn't fit into the top of the butt?

Dave told me they have 3 types of joints.

This was in reply to your suggestion that I should "screw the mini-butt into the shaft". Mini butt won't fit as its a different type.

No it fits OK its just that it works free after playing for a while.

Bigmeek, I have airlock joints on everything. I can attach telescopic and minibutt into the shaft or butt depending on what I need to do.. they're very solid joints so if you're going to change, I recommend them. They also make a cool 'phut' sound when you unscrew them

Yes, I like the Airlock joint also, a great invention and compliments the Quick Release joint that's been around for a good few years now. Air lock joints can be requested on custom cues for 3/4 joints or mini-butt joints from Cue Craft and come as standard on the Triumph Range and some of the 8 ball pool range also...

Thanks Lawry. I guess you had to ask for airlock at the time you ordered? Wish I'd done the same. Any idea how much it added to the price of the cue? Best guess would do. My Maple Eclipse was £135.

Yeh I requested it in the initial specs + quote so no idea if Dave charged extra.. I wanted airlocks without question so didn't really bother me if I was paying extra for them or not. If it was extra then it wasn't much more..

Got the new cue a few days ago. Feels fantastic and looks great, even though chevrons in the ash are not evenly aligned, nor the grain is completely straight. But the cue is dead straight and the finish is amazing.
