  • What are the best tips

Hi i have recently purchased a new cue, problem is the tip on it is rock hard and is so hard to shape, i have only ever used blue diamond and elk, i was hoping for sum suggestions on a new tip to try and what makes them so good, something that will shape pretty good i like a nice little dome shape tip, cheers

Try Pro Granite tips. They have a very nice feel, easy to shape and you get amazing reaction from the CB. Really good tip
You cannot improve your game if you don't have a cue and snooker table

BUT if u dont like hard tips, try a wooldridge super tip. heard good things from them.

IMO pro granite are the best all round.

Yes super tips are also great. But I prefer pressed over laminated one...

I heard Wooldridge tips are too soft, is it true? Unfortunately dont have experience with them, for now, for snooker cues, only elkmaster.

well it depends if you get the pressed ones or the layered ones. he makes both. the pressed ones are supposed to feel like talismans, while the pressed ones apparently play like 'good' elk master tips. except, their lifespan is better and it doesnt feel like youve changed a tip when you do. =]

they are not too soft but they are much softer than the pro granite tips. Both tips are great and you can't go wrong with them

hey, like yourself i've always been used elks or bd, due to the uncconsistency of the tips i decided to try a talisman pro which i purchased of adr147.....i must admit i am very impressed with these tips. luckily for me i did not have any teething problems switching to a talisman tip, i just found myself biting the cue ball alot better and having alot more control which is a real confidence booster....suppose trial and error may the approach to take.
                or
you could try the super tips from mike wooldrige, i have never tried one but they have good reviews, are suppossed to play like a good elk....now that can only be a bonus. happy tip hunting :snooker:

                  How do they compare??

I have tried Wooldridge layered, pressed and Pro granite. Pro Granite tips are having the best fell and they are great playability wise IMHO. But I would say that pressed super tips are also great in fell and playability. Laminated tips are also quite good but I don't like laminated tips... They have some strange feel...

so for me 1st place Pro Granite tips 2nd place(but very close to the Pro tips) pressed tips and 3rd place(but very far from the other two) laminated tips

of course this is just my honest opinion

Thanks Vucko, but I like laminated tips!

I don't like soft tips that "deaden" the feel of the strike. I like the hard "ping" a laminated tip gives you. How does a pro granite feel when you hit the ball??

They are hard tips, and I love hard tips. So to me,they fell just about perfect. As soon as I hit the cue ball I know whether I have hit good shot or bad shot. And the grip is amazing. I am playing for 4 weeks with pro granite tip and I haven't got not a single miscue for that time. Hope that you understand what I am trying to say.

You get that same "ping" sound from pro granite. Someone told me that would go away after a while, but I can't comment as I haven't had it on that long, only about 2 hours play. Hoping to play tomorrow. I would definitely say give them a go.

I bought a Pro granite tip from Stuart Green last month tired it out, they were very responsive but I still find the feel of Woolridge super tip better.
