  • Do the top 16 use 3/4" or one piece cues?

Do any of the proffesional snooker players use a 3/4" cue?? I know most players seem to rate a 1 piece over a 3/4" cue but wondered if the pro's think the same?

I think its a mixture, ebdon has a machine spliced 1 piece, i think robertson has a 3/4. Not sure but i think the trend is moving back towards 1 piece now.

It's very much down to own preference.
Some play very well with 3/4 or 1/2 cues

Seems John Higgins using 1 piece and Robbo is a 3/4 cue. Not sure about ROS cue but I thnk he is still using the H&O 3/4 green plate badge cue since UK Championship 2009.

            The rest...hmmm...not sure
            My cueing sucks

Actually Freddie that was the reason I asked because looking through the numerous posts on here generally everyone promotes 1 piece cues over a butt jointed cue and I seem to have had more success with a 3/4! Just wondred if I was the weird one??

Probably not. I'm a bit suprised at how many players (pros that is) actually use 1 pieces. I though it was less then that.

I guess with one pieces you have a solid hit. Most players I know would prefer a one piece, mainly cause after a while, joint problems usually occur. On the downside, it is real hard transporting a 1 piece.

Why not ordering a 1pc - best feeling, classy look
If you do not like the hassle of transport it could be cut above the splices later.
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

I think the main reason so many top professionals use 1 piece cues is because of the feel and touch they give. When you consider the super fast cloths they play on the touch and feel of the shot is so important and most jointed cues are just too heavy to play on such fast tables. You really need great feel on the shot on those cloths and TBH I think the trend will continue and more and more players will go for 1 pc cues in future.
