  • Cue for newbie

    Hello,

Few days ago I found this awesome forum and I thought somoene would help me. I'm playing snooker for about half year, 3 hours per week because I don't have a snooker table and my friends hasn't too and it's expensive in Lithuania to play it
I'm thinking of buying a cue because now I use club's cue(It isn't so bad 1/2 wooden cue made not in China).

So what you can offer for newbie like me(my highest break is nearly 30)? Don't offer very expensive cues. Of course I would buy it from e-shop

            Hmh...

My budget is small. Buy can I ask from what price good cue for newbie starts?
50 pounds,100pounds? I don't need proffesional cue. I need just good first cue.
(Sorry I know that sentences is incorrect but maybe you will be able to understand )

Effect LT There's a huge variety of cues available to suit every budget. Also there's a huge variation in price depending on what you want.
Example. You can pick up a second hand cue for as little as £10 or pay say £1000 for a top of the range hand made cue from John Parris.
So....first decide if you want a cheaper machine made cue or do you want a more expensive handmade one. Machine made would be OK for your average player.
You can probably get a very good machine made cue for £75-£100. Average handmade cue would set you back say £125-£150 from Mastercraft. Superb handmade would cost £250+++ from Woolridge, Trevor White, Parris and others.
Give the Forum members some idea of what you need and the advice will flood in!!

Yeah I noticed that, shipping to my country costs 20~ pounds on ebay.

Ok my maximum budget is 60pounds for now. Can I get anything good or better to safe money for better cue?

Effect LT You might be able to pick up something OK second hand on e-bay but there's a risk you could buy something which was rubbish. Its a bit hit or miss on e-bay I think. Personally I would save up a little more. Nothing wrong with doing some research to find out what you get for your money.
There's a chap on this Forum called Snookerpoolman who is agent for Cuecraft. He may be able to advise you on a decent budget cue. Search his posts and you'll find his e-mail address.

Hello! I have a similar problem of choosing the proper cue for snooker. Originally I planned to purchase from us in Moscow Peradon Earl, but read this forum a lot of negative feedback on these cues. What advise the cue for the entry level in snooker? I have considerable experience of playing Russian billiards, snooker but recently got carried away.
Proceed from the budget of up to 400 pounds.

With your budget, you have plenty of choices here:-

                        1) VERY MUCH RECOMMENDED: Dan Shelton (known as totlxtc in this forum); or
                        2) Mike Wooldridge custom Shark Series; or
                        3) Hunt & Osborne green plate badge; or
                        4) Trevor White (waiting period about 6months?)

So, goodluck with the hunting. Cheers.

With 400pounds you can get a lot of cues
Vest recommend to go for some nice exotic wood.

                              Try Dan and Hunt's..
Maybe if you want to try Asian cues there are UT, Omin and LK.t
