  • Padauk Wood?!

Hello I´m new at this forum, because of thinking about to get a new cue.
I`ve read many articles, and saw many cues you guys posted but I never saw a cue with Padauk Wood which is available in Mikes VCM. It looks really nice in the programm but I´m wondering what it looks like in "nature". Anyone who got experiences with it or even got pictures, please feel free to post!

    Hi,

welcome to TSF from another German. I am sure you will like it here.

Padauk or Paduk looks red and has a rough grain. John Parris Professional has a paduk splice.
I think it is a bit too rough for a nice top splice. Might be that blood wood is the better choice for that design.
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

Go to google, either type it in google images, or do a search for exotic woods, i found a website where you can view all kinds of wood on there...

Use the search facility for "Padauk". You'll find some posts about this wood and probably a few photos pf cues. There's definately one on 17 July 2008 by Forum member Totlxtc showing a cue. Enjoy the forum.

So it is better to go for Bloodwood if you want the "red" style?

                I know i get around

Padauk is a really nice colour and looks great. Real deep red. But if you do not like deep grained wood then Bloodwood would be the way to go as its lovely and silky and has a lovely shine.

Another one is Pink ivory. You can get some really nice reddy pieces.

Most cuemakers should have those instock. If you want a really nice deep red with lovely figure try red amboyna burl.

Its no problem. Getting a piece that looks like what you should expect is tricky.
