Able to feel the grains on the ash?

hi there im wondering anyone has the same problem as me??
i can feel the grains on my ash shaft is there anything wrong with it??

whole shaft ..where ever the grains are i can feel it with my hands is there smth wrong ?

Not too sure about that, but never experience this kind of situation before.
Does the grains come out/crack of the white part of the wood ?
Mind if I know what kind of cue you using ?

different cuemakers have different finishes. id say theres probably nothing wrong with it. what cue is it? you can always send it to a cuemaker if it bothers you.

Have never seen anything like grain on a cue. That is, not grain that is protruding.

I,ve always liked an ash cue where you can slightly feel the grain , in fact i,ve just ordered a custom made cue from Dan Shelton and have specifically asked him if its possible to have the cue where I can slightly feel the grain .

The cue will still be smooth , so as long as yours is not rough then it should be ok . Pheraps one of the cuemakers here can elaborate and explain more in depth .

funny you should mention this but i also have a cue that you can feel the grain on!! If you run your hand down the cue with a cloth you can feel every chevron has "sunken"
Every dark bit of grain has sunken into the cue further!

Cue is probably 6 years old or so!


also the straight lines of the grain you can put your nail in them!

Still plays beautifully though so i still use it all the time!

Ally, as long as it still plays ok, that is all that really matters. Neither of my Burwats ever had grain that you could actually feel -- Burwat Champ and Ye Olde Ashe -- and I had them for donkeys years, but the Champ went for a walk from the one of the snooker clubs and it had Horace Lindrum's actual autograph on it, when I played against him. He was a very nice man and a fantastic snooker and billiards player.

yep my cue is super smooth when im feathering only that i can feel the grains on it...
but its alright..
