  • Is this one of a kind ?

Bought this a while ago from Ken Walton at JSS Billiards
    http://www.billiards-snooker.com/
Old butt with a new shaft made by Craftsmans cues. Obviously linked to billiards with the 3 balls etc BUT has anyone seen anything like it before ?

Could be that the three marks are where someone drilled the butt to add lead weights to make the butt heavier. I remember back in the 1970s that is exactly what Alex Higgins used to do.

Possible i suppose - but they look as tho they have always been there, measure just 4mm dia, and the butt as a whole weighs 11oz

I like this cue, it certainly has a strong character.
        Thanks for sharing.

Cheers mate, i know collectors probably wouldn't touch it because its been cut down, but i like the unusual look of it, and mixed together with a new shaft means its ok for potting a few balls :snooker:

I am so curious about this cue and I have a few questions.
What is the butt size, looks quite fat...is it over 30mm?
                  Is the butt ebony?
Are the dots inlaid? What are they made of?

Looks like a repair to me. Sometimes butts are chipped and people get a splice added to cover over it. Maybe the badge got destroyed in the damage aswell?

Guess that makes sense Dan, cheers - this is what Ken said at the time

"This cue came into me with a damaged shaft - I thought the butt was most unusual and therefore decided to have a new shaft fitted making into a three-quarter cue - this a did. I have never seen a butt like this before in 35years in the game - it could have been made as a special but I don't know. One thing is for sure you will not see another anywhere."
