Andrew, next time you need the cash this URGENTLY and have one of these Ultimates for £100, PM me right away, I should be able to organise a quick payment... I can do with another spare cue...
I also had never seen one before the preious owner offered me the cue. He bought it at Hun&O'Byrne during the 80ies and had it since then.
Honestly, the cue is nice but not the ultimate () piece of craftsmanship. Macassar butt, thin green, thick maple and thin green veneer with an ebony top splice. Nice shaft with four chevrons on front.
Good playing cue, not that ultra stiff like many Hunt & O'Byrne cues.
I asked a few people before I bought it and they told me it is from the first series of Hunt&O'Byrne. All of them told me that they have seen maybe one or two so far and that the cues is very rare.
But I will ask Will Hunt when I visit their workshop next time.
If you could find time to post a pic Id love to see it. My friend has a one piece ash/ebony with four tulip splices and the same plaque from the same time.
A really beautiful cue but poker stiff, hard to play with.
