  • Lengthening a cue

    Hi there,

I had a cue especially made for me by Peradon and unfortunately the specifications i gave them were wrong and the cue is too short.
I contacted them to see if they could extend it and they said they could for £65, i don't mind paying this but they said they had to make a whole new butt end for it.
My cue is a 1pc and they intend to make it into a 3/4pc but i have friends who have had their cue extended but kept into a 1pc by having a piece of wood added into the 3/4 section.

I would like the cue kept as a 1pc cue and would like to know is it possible to do this still and what would you advise?

    1. Keep it as a 1pc with a piece added in or
    2. Just have the cue as a 3/4 cue.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'd keep the cue as a 1pc and ask a cue maker to add four splices at the butt end to lengthen the cue. That way the cue needs not to be cutted.

I suggest to ask Dan (totlxtc here on the forum) to do the job. He is a top bloke and will make the job really good.
Once you have ten posts you can PM him.
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

          Hi All,

I am also looking to get my custom 1 piece cue lengthened slightly, can anyone tell me how to contact Dan? Also does anyone have any pics of a cue they have had lengthened, as i am concerned about what the finished product will look like?

                  Yes, eager to see pics.

Question: is splicing better than butt joining wood? Is that meant to improve "feel" somehow or is it just a more secure joining method?

                    hi all,

just to add my 2 cents....

i have had both my cues extended up to 61" (by john parris).
i must say that the work that he did was first class and although they now weight slightly heavier, both cues feel and play as good as they ever did in their shorter state.
Will post some pics of my cue when i get home

                    @ Longbomber
i don't know for sure but would say that splicing is prefered because of the increased contact area for joining the 2 woods....
