As a recent newcomer to this forum, I have been reading the threads about Cue Makers, learnt a lot about Wooldridge, White, BarrWat, etc., with much interest, but I want to ask about a comment I read on a posting here mentioning Parris cues and a "quality issue".
What is the issue and has it been resolved?
I have been playing for many years with the same cue for 20+ years and I am thinking about a new cue. Sorry but I don't know the maker of my cue, I bought it in a club that closed down many years ago.
My cue has alway been a 1/2 cue and originally came with a wood screw at the join (yep, it is that old ). This join started to crack (9 years ago) and after some searching I sent my cue to John Parris and the wood screw was replaced with a brass joint. The cue came back like new and I have ever since looked after it, cleaning and re-oiling once or twice a year.
Then after a few years the shaft cracked, I obviously sent it to John Parris for a rescue-job which came back fixed and invisible and so far (touch-wood) is still perfect and I don't even think about it anymore (until I started writing this posting).
So obviously when I read that comment, it did make me wonder.
Can anyone shine any light on the comment, or just general comments about makers.
I am so glad I have found this website, very informative and enlightening.
All the best
