A like an even splice and I hate that red glue.
I just thought i would bump this thread up after buying a North West cue myself yesterday, i agree about the point on the splicing, the splicing points on mine are not all in line and uniformed but that doesn't bother me as its the feel and playabilty of a cue thats more important as well as the grain.

The cue in hand feels stunning, it feels well balanced and you get that feel of quality where its money well spent. Mine is a 3/4 cue jointed at 16 inches with a plain black ebony butt as i prefer the traditional look. The other thing that impressed me is how black the ebony butt is, you see some ebony butts that look a bit wishy washy if ou know what i mean where they don't look black, this particular cue ive bought is a very nice black.

I got a very good deal from John at ABC Snooker, he let me come down to his house to have a look at a few cues on a sunday and its as good a buying experience as you could wish to get, with Kevin at North West cue's seeming as though he has stopped trading then its very hard to find a North West cue in stock anywhere, i'd recommend ABC snooker if someone is looking for a North West cue as they have a few in stock with some very nice grains as they hand pick the cues themselves.
