  • Craftsman Supreme

I'm recently new to the forum but have been glued to it ever since I signed up.... there is some really great advice on here!
I've been dithering over getting a Craftsman cue for the last few weeks, mainly because of how highly praised they are on this forum and because they are within my price range.
I'm torn between getting the legend or the supreme....
As far as I know the supreme is reasonably new; I like the classic look of plain ebony but am torn between the two.
from the other cues with ovangkol splicing that i have seen, they all appear to be much darker with a visible grain compared to the one pictured here. do you think this is down to the lighting of the picture or the quality of the wood?

      Hi Tom

dont know where you are in the UK, but if you are within striking distance of Kippax (nr Leeds), then its certainly worth dropping into Craftsman Cues.

I was after a new cue about 12 months ago, I was not willing (or able) to pay Parris, MW etc prices but wanted something a bit more special, and better made than a JJB sports job.
So i went up there, they have loads of cues you can try out, so that you can sort out what weight, balance, tip size you want, and you never know they might have both a Legend and a Supreme for you to try out.

I went for the Majestic in the end, and am very pleased with my purchase.

But as I am sure you know, each cue is different, even the same model.

      Good luck.

Hi Tom, drop me an email to cueist@genie.co.uk with your ideal specs (weight, tip size, length, jointing etc.) and I'll see what I've got to offer you. Have got several lovely Hand-spliced Cue Craft cues in stock and if you want to pop over to Chesterfield, I can make arrangements for a table to try them out on. If not, I can do mail order. Full range of cases 3/4 or 1 piece in Leather/Leatherette/Aluminum also in stock. Can email pics of cues if that helps. Am at the club this weekend (N E Derbyshire Snooker Centre, S45 9AG), or can be there one day next week if that's more convenient. Cheers, Dave, Snookerpoolman.

Hi Tom, you couldn't get a better cue for that kind of money. My friend recently bought 5 Supreme cues at once and I was very impressed with the feel and the balance of all of them. The workmanship on the butt is brilliant and the ash shafts are great with even chevrons and grains on the side is as straight as you can get from other dearer brands.

Go treat yourself. I have been dealing with Dave and Simon at Craftsman for years and you owe it to yourself to visit them at Kippax and try out the cues yourself before buying. There is a full size table for you to try before you buy and I am sure Dave or Simon will be there to offer you their advice and usual friendly and pressureless service.

Thanks for the great advice! Unfortunately I'm too far away to conveniently go and try it, but I have placed an order for one of these cues and am incredibly excited about its arrival. As you rightly mentioned, their customer service is outstanding. I have been thoroughly impressed so far with their advice and help regarding my decision. It’s relieving to hear you rate the cue so highly!
