It really does not matter much if it plays well even if he gets 147 with that. Just don't want that friend to get cheated by sellers again.

well... from my experience, no one seems to appreciate it much when you reveal the news that their cue is a fake copy....

but without seeing a closeup of the joint and badge we can't conclude 100%, but looking at the badge, it does seem very dodgy.... the square MasterCue badge is more ivory, and this particular one looks like very brittle white plastic...

As long as the cue suit your frd style of play, who cares if it is a JP or a Fake china made cue?

I will just hint my frd if i m in his position rather then break it right in his face that he have a fake mastercue.

Phoney as a two bob watch. Looks nothing like a Mastercue, not the badge, the joint or the painted splices like you pointed out. And he said it cost 180 blah blah, mind you nearly every other ad claims pie-in-the-sky new prices for the cues. If anyone's is daft enough to believe that ad they deserve to be conned. Mind you it comes in an ali case so the 30 quid start price is about what its worth

i can get one for AU$100 for a machine splice mastercue.
And i buy it from my local distributor, imagine how much cheaper the dealer get it direct from Thailand.

It's more worth to go for machine splice Mastercue than any cheap China made cues..

                          Hello all. Newbie here.

I've just joined this forum, as the more recent Ebay advert you've just linked to (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT) was mine, and this thread has been recently pointed out to me.

I have only just found out this cue is not a true Mastercue myself, and I feel bad for the person who just bought it from me and is now sending it back. (I will of course give a full refund.) I'd like to point out that I wasn't trying to conn anyone. And I never claimed to have paid 180 for the cue. Please read the advert more closely, where I merely included links sites where you can buy a new PB1, and I quoted the list price for these for a NEW cue, including extensions.

I listed the action at £30, which seemed fair, given all the parts and the hard case, and given it's a fraction of what I paid for it.

This particular cue was bought in a Riley's snooker hall (in Weston-super-Mare) about 5 or 6 years back. I didn't know much about queues then, and I still don't know much about them now! It's sad to see that even an establishment like Riley's will try to conn individuals like myself.

That said, I'm not sure I agree with your statement, "If anyone's is daft enough to believe that ad they deserve to be conned." I'm not a stupid person, but I didn't (and don't) know anything about snooker hardware. I bought this cue from a vendor who you would expect to be able to trust, so I don't feel like I deserved to be conned in the first place.

Anyway, now I've got that off my chest, I'd be very pleased if anyone can provide any legitimate info about this cue. For example, I'm now told it's machine spliced, so I'm wondering if machine-spliced copies of the "Pro Butt" cues are common place?

I imagine I will relist the cue on Ebay, probably as a "Mastercue Pro Butt Copy", and I'll explain that it's machine spliced with painted finish. It is straight, it does have two extensions, and a hard case. Do you guys think that's fair?

Well you seem like a pretty honest fellow, and credit to you for owning up that it was an honest mistake and that you didn't set out to con anyone. But din't you think it strange that the cue you listed looked nothing like the ones you linked to? And nowhere on the cue does it say PB1 or even Mastercue?
From the pics, the cue you listed looks neither hanspliced nor machine spliced, but painted or "ebonised" . Which I'm afraid is the lowest quality you can get. Having said that the ash might be fine, and it might be a decent enough cue to play with, But value wise it's a lemon. The badge looks familiar but I can't put a make to it. What does it say on the small lettering above the crown emblem?

If you want my opinion on the value, the case is worth about 30 and the cue not much more than a tenner. However, someone you know might try it and like it and give you 20-30 quid for the cue. In fairness if you re-list it I wouldn't bother claiming it's a Mastercue copy because it isn't. I actually have a PB1 Mastercue myself lol
