I ripped my Kamui off after just 5/6 frames of use. It wouldn't hold chalk at all, shaping it was a pain as you'd always run into the glue which would then make it even worse for holding chalk. Then it split. As the other 2 are posted on here. It wasn't even from a miscue. Just a bog standard stun run through shot.

a) You purchased a fake
b) You had a substandard tip
They are renowned for consistency and there was no glue problems with the tip I put on. Shame you should have given up so easily..

I bought two of them. Both LEGIT tips.
The second one i have lost due to not caring about it. As the first one was pure junk. It was the black - medium. I was having to rough it up every 6-8 chalks of the tip. I tried many different chalks also. Neither of them made much difference

Did you put the tip on yourself ? I only ask as i got mine put on by a cuemaker who also shaped the tip for me as well and had no issues with it holding the chalk .
I didn't realise that they split as well . Seems you may have just had a bad tip .Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

looking at ebay they are being sold at £7.99 delivered.
list fee 10p
end fee 80p
paypal 40p
envo 10p
stamp 58p
return is £6.01
trade price is depending on quantities
£5.50 plus vat & delivery = £6.60
£5 plus vat & delivery = £6
£4.50 plus vat & delivery £5.40.
so lets assume - (wrongly!) that these people are buying 1000 plus at a time to get them at the right rate that means they are investing £5400 to earn a return of £6010 which could take a few years to recoup, not including their time effort etc. it is not a viable business - hence i no longer stock them, how they do it you work it out for yourself! - the end

I did put it on myself yes. But i have done many. I even gave it to my old man for a look who's been playing the game for the best part of 45 years. I didn't use any really abrasive sand paper so that wouldn't have damaged it. I also took the plunge and bought a Kamui Gator Grip. And it did it's job nicely at scuffing it. But still after 6-8 chalks it would become shiney and stop holding chalk very well. I know people say that they are chalked it just doesn't look they are. Well in my case it definately wasn't. It was all patchy and shiney. You had to rub the chalk over the tip about 10 times for it to cover evenly. And then after one shot your back to square one.
I tried Triangle light green, dark green and blue. Riley dark green, Powerglide blue. Some Tweetens (never seen any before my mate let me use it) green chalk. And some unknown Taiwan chalk.

I tried a Talisman soft and it came to really bug me that it didn't hold chalk (there's a thread on this at the moment), but the Kamui for me is a revelation and I love it. Although I don't use Tweeten's Triangle like most folk (I use Tweeten's green Master chalk), I never had a problem with either.
It's a pity ADR147 has stopped doing these as the supply channel to me is more important than the price.
P.S. Have you tried a MW laminated?

As perhaps the best reputed seller of snooker related items around, you ought to at least stock limited numbers of Kamui's for special request (and forget using rip-off Ebay).

I haven't done so yet no. I was going to wait until i found the other tip so i could see if that one had the same characteristics. But i'm still yet to find it.
I have ordered a Baron calf hide tip from ADR. So i'm going to see how that performs. I've currently got on my cue a generic tip from china. I had 5 sent with my cue. But they mushroom rather quickly. Even after being burnished they still like mushrooming. So it's abit of a pain bedding them in. Once they are bedded in however they are lovely tips. If i find the Kamui any time soon i'll update the thread on how it performs. I'll put it on my backup cue and see how it goes.

Perhaps you can try Stu from GreenBaize as I think he sells Kamui tips.

I've not tried the Kamui's myself but I have got my Talismans from him who also fits them and can recommend using him.

Have you tried to contact Kamui? They may just send you a replacement for free.
These tips are known for consistency. You don't see John Higgins or Steve Davis constantly fighting to get chalk on their tips every eight shots. You should take Poolqjunkie's advice and return any dodgy tips to Kamui who will protect their reputation and probably send you the real thing.
ADR147's post shows the only way for people to make money selling Kamui's is to sell fake versions, and even if you paid a proper price, there's no telling that you purchased the real thing except until you come to use it and find out it's crap.Last edited by limecc; 20 June 2011, 10:09 PM.

I have purchased 5 x Kamui M from Coutts (I asked for MH) and also 5 x Kamui MH from green baize. I fitted one of the Mediums and bedded it in with a hammer and have had it on for a month now with no problems whatsoever and it hold the chalk well (Tweeten's green Triangle) and hasn't required re-shaping. When it wears out I will replace with an MH as I find the Kamui to be superior to the Talisman. I paid somewhere around 10pounds apiece for these tips, both from reputable dealers
