I'm after a new case, either one piece or 3/4. Leather/leatherette is preferable. Snooker Forum discount available?!?!

      Hi

I can do a real leather case for one piece or 3/4 cue for £150.00 plus standard delivery charge of £8.50 I will add a snooker forum discount,

      1) because you are a cheeky b*****d and
      2) because I actually think it's a good idea

I will give a 10% discount to all snooker forum members however, it cannot be used in conjuction with any other offers and you must email me with your username (so I can verify it) and then I will send you the discount code. I will run this until August 31st and if successful I will continue it.

So on this note Matt that would make the case £143.50 including delivery. 3/4 case available in 12" Butt or 16" butt. Also a variety of colours Black, BCk/Blue, Black/Red, Black/Yellow, Navy/Grey.

One piece only available in Black.

        Hi,

I currently use a basic pool cue but I am more player than cue (the cue is not good enough for me). I don't play snooker, but I am interested in watching the sport. Instead, I play 8 ball UK pool. I am looking for a cue that can produce plenty of spin efortlessly, as I have noticed by playing with snooker cues. This is why I am looking at snooker cues - my mentor told me that a snooker cue is better for spin and a pool cue better for powerful shots. I am looking at buying just one cue and not a dedicated break cue, but I am led to believe that snooker cues are not good for powerful shots - e.g. a power break in pool. What would you recommend for me?

Don't UK 8 ball players tend to use smaller cues than snooker players? You're not using an american pool cue to play UK pool are you?

The crucial difference between them is basically the diameter at the tip. The smaller the tip, the more you can potentially put spin on the ball, but the downsides are that the shaft is somewhat more delicate the thinner it is, and small tips require better cueing to keep the white under control.

Corresponding with the size of the balls in the respective games, US pool cues have ~13mm tips, snooker cues ~9.5mm, and UK pool cues ~7.5mm.

What confuses me is that, compared to a UK 8 ball cue, a snooker cue should be worse at spinning the white, not better. In the same way snooker cues are better for power shots, not worse. Either your mentor has it backwards or I'm not thinking of the same UK 8 ball (red and yellow, 2" balls, small tables etc?).

If you are talking about US pool then there are a number of dedicated break cues available on the market like the Predator BK2 or the Bunjee cues.

I think you are talking about 8-ball (UK) though and I have a number of snooker cues that would live up to the task. I don't think the smaller tip allows more generation of spin I just think that it allows more control of the cue ball relative to the size.

PM me if you need anymore help.

              <b>not smaller in length</b>

<b>depends how the shaft is taken down to a very small tip size....some go in quite sharply towards the end, to stop the cue becoming too whippy</b>

Corresponding with the size of the balls in the respective games, US pool cues have ~13mm tips, snooker cues ~9.5mm, and UK pool cues ~7.5mm.

<b>the average uk 8 ball pool players tip size is a fair bit higher than 7.5mm

id say the average is at least 8.5mm</b>

What confuses me is that, compared to a UK 8 ball cue, a snooker cue should be worse at spinning the white, not better. In the same way snooker cues are better for power shots, not worse. Either your mentor has it backwards or I'm not thinking of the same UK 8 ball (red and yellow, 2" balls, small tables etc?).

<b>in uk 8 ball pool, the white is smaller than the rest of the balls. this marginal difference can have a big effect on the outcome of shots. screwback for instance.

try hitting a cueball at a marble and try to get it to screw back

try hitting a 1 7/8 cue ball at a 9 ball cueball and try the same shot

              much easier

try it again with balls of the exact same diameter and weight. not as easy

              etc</b>

I am playing with a UK pool cue, it just has a large tip (but slightly smaller than those used in American pool).

I have found this cue, however: http://www.snookerbilliardspool.co.u...asp?ItemId=126

Problem is , then anyone know any 4 piece cue cases?

I have had a look at the cue and am surprised to see it in the pro hand made section. That cue I assure you is not hand made by the way the splices are cut it is definitely machine made.

I don't know why you would need two shafts, you should be able to generate an effective break from your standard cue. As for the four piece case you would be able to carry it in a usual 1 piece snooker cue case that has the ability to hold two cues (most aluminium 1 piece cases feature this.)

If you want any more info then just ask.

I love the look of that mini-butt. Nice cue.
