I've tried one of those cheap cues from ebay and i wasn't at all impressed. The Ebony was not Ebony. It's dyed wood. And the veneers were painted, not actual veneers. My guess is they are machine made to a point and then finished off by hand. Also the case i received was garbage. The hinges were not mounted level with each other so the top of the case would overlap the bottom. Thus making the catches not catch properly.

I wouldn't even recommend them to newcomers. As it may put you off buying other so called "handmade" cues

For 60GBP for a cue with multiple splices, 2 extensions and a case that is kind of what I would expect.:-)
China's labor cost is much lower but top quality wood is still not cheap to buy, especially if they are to be imported. And there are something you cannot get a cheap laborer to do for you. So, I would not really expect to see real nice wood and top craftsmanship at this price.
There are I am sure better cues produced from China (such as LP, Lk.T...etc) but at this price range you really cannot/should not expect too much.
I am not sure why they mentioned they have passed ISO900--how do you set a ISO standard for a handmade cue?

ISO - It is for the process, not the cue mate! But how strict is the auditing can be a question!

Their leather cases at 22 pounds each for a one piece case taling two cues are excellent value for money though. I will definately give their cues a miss. Some of the worst splicework I ever saw on a cue

Hi Guys, feel that I have to have my say on this as I actually tried one of these cues last Sunday, my mate bought it for his dad and I wanted to try a 57inch cue. Now I am not an expert at all and am only a 30 to 40 breaker so take my comments as you will. The first thing was that the cue stuck to my skin during the stroke which made the cueing jerky, I know this can be put right though. The second thing and more importantly in my opinion was the actual strike on the cue ball which was well a sort of "DUD" and it was not a crisp strike more of a clonky sort of feel. I did not like the actual playing side of the cue at all. My mates dad is maybe a 12 breaker at best and plays for a bit of fun so for the money for him I guess it was a good buy.

Is it possible that if the ISO auditor (who knows nothing about cue making) goes to watch how a cue is made by hand entirely (with hand planes and sand papers and such) by a famous cue maker in the UK and comes to the conclusion that since only very simple tools were used the standard must not be high enough; while when he goes to a factory in China and sees all the workers in a big factory working in front of lots of machines and comes to the conclusion that they are more "modern" with better technology and appear to be more systematic-- hence must be better!
