  • Cues on ebay - anyone got one?

I was just wondering whether anyone here has had any experience with the cues on ebay.

There are a vast number of cues available on ebay, typically under the brands "BS handmade overmatch" or "Pro handspliced blah blah blah - usually going for about 40quid or less - including cases and extensions.

As an example, have a look at some of the cues on offer here:

Now I know they won't be top quality cues. Probably made in some backstreet in China. But - has anyone got one, seen one, used one etc?

    I'd be interested to know.

Having just bought a Cheddar Classics cue case on eBay from the same seller (it arrived this afternoon), I can thoroughly recommend him - genuine, quality item, very good communication, and fast despatch; you can bid with confidence. He may not offer Paypal but, then, as a seller neither do I .

I purchased one from My Life in eBay. It is a 57" long 3/4 cue "designed" by Mark Amazon (but who is MA?) and comes with a 6" mini butt and a cue case. The shipment is direct from Taishan, China. Very fast shipment at a cost of AUS20. I bidded for AUS32. The actual cost is CHN540. The actual shipping cost is USD6.7.3

I bid because I need a 3/4 cue case, the best one I got so far! A similar one is selling at CAD99 here. When the cue arrived, it was a surprise to me - very well bulit and playable except that the balance point is a bit too far back at 16 inches from the butt. There is a tendency to rise during follow-through. So I use it for pool, especially jump shots (not the masse' style but the extreme deep screw style). The butt size is too thick - 31mm. The tip is 9mm but the cue tip needs to be replaced.

In short, if you're not buying one to keep, go for it.

I recently bought one from this seller because the cues feature air-lock joints, case and 2 extensions and I knew if I didn't like it I could easily sell it and get my money back (less than $100.00 Canadian with shipping). I was extremely impressed with the cue (other than the tip). I have 2 friends that have Parris cues, I have 2 custom Mastercues and this cue from China does not have the same quality of workmanship (splices are slightly uneven, the finish is not quite as good) but for the money it is an exceptional bargain. The butt is 30.5, about 19oz., a very solid hit, balance at 17.5" and the air-lock joint.
