Pardon but I'm backing up a bit here.. Apart from the seemingly melted butt and badge it looks like a quick release joint.. But JP don't do Q-release, right?

I didn't come on this forum to get in to slaggin match's with people but no matter how hard you try there are people who just can't help being confrontational. Like J6uk post, is it just me or is he trying to imply the cue is fake? I spoke to John today about the cue, he has given me a price for the repair of the joint and I will be dropping the cue off this week, maybe Wednesday. So anyone who feels the need to question my honesty and slur my name can ring John and ask him to verify the cue is genuine.

Definitely a fake
The butt is to long the traditional's only have a 17" butt, that looks about 20" to me, also the badge is far to low and shouldn't have clear acrylic over it. If it is original your mate would have the receipt from John you wouldn't throw that away. I don't think your mate is being truthfull to you.
Here is John Parris Traditional

Hard to tell how long the ebony is from that pic but you could be right. Also is it just me or does the bottom half look about 3 inches longer than the top half? Either way, it's been messed with and if the joint is aftermarket plus the work thats been done on the butt then it won't be as desirable to most people.
Cazmac it's not personal, do you want everyone to say what a great cue it is and get your hopes up to fetch good money on ebay? It doesn't matter what we say as far as selling it is concerned just put it on ebay and let it find it's value. I daresay someone will buy it. But most on here are savvy about cues and just telling you a truthful opinion

Maybe someone can clear that point, has JP ever done quick release joints?

Sorry if I taken your post the wrong way Jason, This thread, has really ****ed me off. I haven't tried to hide anything about this cue and its problems. I was prepared to go a lot lower than £220; This was just put up as a starting point,
I can tell you this cue plays really, well faults and all. Once the centre joint has been corrected the cue would be a fantasist bargain for someone who wants a John Parris cue and was prepared to over look superficial, points such as a dodgy name plate. I have never known a badge to effect how a cue plays. I am fully aware of the resell value of the cue and don't need to be lectured by self appointed specialist. With this in mind I have to keep the cost of the repair work down. John has asked me not to quote him on the forum so I am not putting any figures on the repair work. The cue has no dents and is perfectly smooth and doesn't need refinishing as suggested. Any how, when ever I’ve had my cues in at JP he has always provided this service without charge. As he like his cues to leave the workshop in good condition. I'm sure he won't want the cue to leave the workshop with the badge as it is, but due to the poor resell value, I'm only prepared to have the centre joint looked at.
The cue will be back on sell after the repair. Whether you like centre joints or not this is still a John Paris cue and therefore is made to the same high standard as all his cues.
PS: The centre joint is not quick releaseLast edited by cazmac1; 23 March 2010, 10:20 AM.

You don't need to apologize to me caz, I'm a snooker player!
Immune to controversy, after being in and out of snooker and pool halls all over for 25 years people have come at me with Allot worse
Maybe good focused and well-lit pics will give the desired response next time..
Be lucky

SALE SALE SALE SALE SALE, I get it
Hi Watford, thanks for pointing that out, oh and Cally. Having a bit of a head storm on that one.
Just like to say if someone say's the cue is fake, it implies that I'm a crook, cheat and liar. So I'll call him what I want.

Hi cally
I'm a Twix man myself, throw in a few of those and is yours
I have decided not to sale the cue after visiting john today. It turns out that the center joint is not a John Parris joint (well spotted Jason). My friend had told me that he had work done on the joint but I hadn't realized that he had the hole joint replaced, John said he would have to replace the hole joint, on both sides of the cue, This turned out to be more than the original quote and was more than I was prepared pay with the resale being so poor. John has confirmed that the cue is almost 90% one of his, but due to all the alterations along with the badge being mucked up he would not like to commit himself 100% JP. So it makes no sense to throw good money after bad. I will be returning the cue to my friend and washing my hands off it.Last edited by cazmac1; 24 March 2010, 06:21 PM.
