  • Idiots on Ebay

Seriously, what is it with people on Ebay...
if its not Fedia selling JP cues for double the price, u get idiots with unrealistic valuations, even after an item didnt sell...
2 cues i watched from the same guy, 100 startin bid on each...
nobody bid on either cue and they did not sell.
messaged asking what price he would sell them for and got a reponse of 125 and 180....
where do these people come from!?
If i didnt bid at £100, why do I wanna pay you extra now?

Seriously, some ppl do my head in!

I can say the same about the buyer. I have lost count on how many of the Riley Burwat cues (The cheap and nasty ones) i have seen going for £100+

I've had a few times were I've seen things up for the second time, bid, won but not met the sellers valuation. Then when you ask them what they want they want another £50.
'It's not worth that you mug, that's why you've posted it twice and not reached the price you want'

Sellers perogative to charge whatever he/she likes, the consumer can either buy or not.. neither is right or wrong.

Ebay in particular is a very fickle place, I've seen identical old cues sell for £180 or £50 depending on how they were listed, quality of pictures, time of month/year etc.

at this particular moment in time...

              ask price = $180, bid price = $100...

              Conclusion? ====> "NO SALE"

Does it mean it's not worth $180? Maybe...

Does it mean it's worth less than $100? I don't know either...

Does it mean the seller are obligated to sell it below what they originally wanted... ie $180?

So who is the idiot on ebay?? That's a very subjective question...

              a) Those that are wanting to sell something for more than what it's worth? (But how much IS IT REALLY Worth? Ebay buyers certainly aren't a very good judge, ebayer buyers only wants bargains)

              b) Those that want to pick up a bargain (ie. obtain something that clearly is below market price and below what the seller wants for it)

              c) Purchase something that is WAY above market price (not knowing how much something is REALLY worth)

              d) Sell something that is WAY below market price (again not knowing the value of what they're selling)

clearly person c) wins by a mile in the idiot contest, but I wouldn't say person a) is an idiot either, in fact he is quite smart, and have an idea how much he actually wants, I'd say people these days including myself are just too attached to the numbers, everybody wants it cheap, that's all we look at... THAT'S TOO EXPENSIVE... GIVE IT TO ME CHEAPER...

I always find it amusing that a cue can sell for more than what it cost new. Usually happens mostly with JP. Especially the ones listed by fed. Are people really that daft?

Mind you a cue like anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay so up to them I guess.

the thing with JP is, everyone (even those that doesn't know the game) knows how good an Ultimate is, they know it hits the ball well, they know it's got the best craftsmanship, they know it holds its resale value the best...

but people don't know how it's going to "LOOK" when they order one, taking into account they have to wait almost a year to get a new one made, it's clear why some people is willing to pay MORE than the listed price, for a well kept and good condition Ultimate... There's many people in this world, where money is not a matter for them....

Spot on, and it's not just with new cues, for some people the look of the cue is just as important as how it plays. While doing my usual 5 frame 5 cue session at the local WMC and old gent offered me a silly sum for my Eureka because he said the chevrons were perfect. That one wasn't for sale, but I did let him have a game with it .

Its not just the price but the waiting time that people pay extra for. if you want a cue and dont want to wait an extra £50 or £75 is worth paying in my opinion.
