    Hi,

    If anyone has credible and verifiable information which type and specification cue the leading pros use, post it here.

    Disregard the hype and mostly lies from vested interest groups who claim all sorts to get their own product sold, one awful web site I have come across is the Cue & Caseman he posts on his webpage a list of cues allegedly used by the leading professionals which is a total fabrication, either the chap is a fraud or an idiot, or maybe both? his claim is that 14 out of the current top 16use a Parris cue, absolute nonsense;

    He lists the current world no 2, Ken Doherty as playing with a Parris cue, absolute rubbish, Ken uses a club cue that has been modified to suit his height and reach, NO PARRIS, he then lists Mark Williams as using a Parris Cue, also rubbish, Mark uses a 57" machine spliced ebony/ash cue made for him by Trevor White from wales, likewise Stephen Hendry rejected all 4 of the samples made for him by John Parris when his own cue was damaged, he now plays with a Master Cue that has been adapted for him by Parris, NOT MADE BY PARRIS, Ronnie O Sulivan used a Parris Traditional he later gave away to a young boy he now plays with a cue made by Stamford Cue Makers, the same company that made the cue for Ding Junhui, the Australian Neil Robertson was also quoted as using a Parris cue, rubbish again, he uses a cue made for him back in Australia, Matthew Stephens uses a Trevor White cue, Steve Davis plays with his old "Ye Olde Ash" again, Magquire uses a cue made in Scotland by Andy Gibb, last years world champ Murphy uses an old cue modified which was once Ray Reardons cue, so where does that leave this chaps ridiculous claims???

    I dont mind if people push one brand or another because they sell it or have heard about it third hand, but lets stick to the facts.

    By the way, I have never known one single professional who has used a cue made by Tony Glover ?? by what he charges for his cues, and I have one of them, you would think that 99 out of 100 top pros would use them, mine is beautifully made, no question, but plays like a broom handle, the best I have bought over the years has been an O Min cue, I rate that above my Parris Professional, and well above, the workmanship is far better as is the balance and ash used, I understand that quite a few of the pros are putting their overpriced Parris cues in the rack, or on eBay;; and play with O Min or Master Cue, and who could blame them.

    I use a Parris Professional and it's fantastic. I would never hesitate to go back for work to be done on my cue if I wanted it lengthened/extensions, or even buy a new model. I would also recommend him to anyone who wants to buy a new cue.

    That's my opinion.

        I've seen that site and I knew it was utter crap!
        Parris make and give pro's copies of there cues for free sometimes and all they have to do is have a picture taken with John in return.
        Mathew Stevens uses a Hunt and O'Byrne (now known as Robert Osborne) though not a Trevor White!
        Who's this Stamford Cue Makers then?

          That's great, good for you, maybe the ones I got from John were not the very best??? I know what a top quality cue should look like and what quality timber is, also what quality finishing of said timber is or should be, I would be interested in seeing a few pitures of your cue, Luck1au@yahoo.com.au mainly the butt end, because mine and most JP's I have seen, have never been back filled or suface treated, they look cheap and rough, to properly finish a cue is something like french polishing, looks and feels fantastic, I have spoken to John about it, and he maintains that it would cost to much??? by his prices ??? have you ever had the chance to look at and compare a Master Cue or O Mins cues to your JP cue?? you might be in for a shock;;;

              Look at their web site Stamford Cuemakers, nice site lovely cues, Ding was quite difficult in his specification, he had tried over 36 Parris cues and proclaimed them all rubbish, he is very happy with theone Stamfords made for him;;
              Peter Ebdon of course has two replicas of his own ( very ordinary machine spliced cue ) cue from Parris, FREE OF CHARGE, I know he sold both of them for good money, probably for travelling money to Dubai, I am just thinking if Parris is so good, why would Peter Ebdon chosse to play with his crappy machine spliced cue in prefference to a super new Parris model ??? I think Parris markets himself very well, and 99% of those buying his cue cant play the game.

                Everyone's entitled to their views but to discrad Parris cues as rubbish is out of order. The fact that Ronnie has used one in the most successful part of his career until now is enough evidence alone that JP makes a good cue.

                We've heard your views on this now Ipotalot (which I doubt you do) so let's hear other people's views on John Parris.

                  I agree Matt, lets hear from as many as we can, just one piece of advise, dont get personal, if you cant hold a discussion dont buy into one, who do you think this Parris is, someone beyond reproach or critisism?? you have got to be joking, I have paid good money, for what by all accounts, is just an average cue, I have also found that 99% of those that use his cues cant play the game for quits, the 1% that can include Robbie et. al., and this is not to refelect badly on anyone or denegrate anyone, far from it, what I am saying is that Parris uses his marketing skills to con a great number of buyers out there into believing that one his cues makes them a better player, and having paid so much for the cue the silly buyer is not about to complain, after all, it's a Parris cue he bought, so if he cant play with it,it must be his fault.
                  Are you on a commission from Parris to promote his cues Matt ?? I also have a Parris Professional which you are welcome to buy from me any time, the sooner I geeet rid of it the better, I have had the chance to compare the manufactured quality of it to Master Cue, O MIn, Stamford Cuemakers, Mike Wooldridge, Trevor White and others, and Matt, all of them are better then Parris, so that entitles me to call the Parris cue I bought, a load of overpriced rubbish; if you have one that is out of this world, good for you, and by the way Matt, I issue a public challenge to you over 3 frames of Snooker, any place, I will give you 3 blacks start/frame for 1000 pounds per frame, winner take all, that way you can judge for yourself if I indeed pot a lot or not""" I read that you claim a HB of 147 ( in your dreams;
                  finally, if the Parris cues are so good, why did Ronnie give his away to the boy when he did??? look at Ronnies record his best play was when he used his old Burwat Champion and not the Parris cue;;; besides you are obviously oblivious of the financial tie up of Ronnie with Parris????

                    Yes, it seems that every so often someone sprouts up and has their usual lets knock John Parris. I've seen it on numerous other snooker forums and it appears to be the same person! Its getting a bit boring now and to be honest if you are so knowledgeable about cues (IPOTALOT), perhaps you will tell us how you know all this info and why you would go to the trouble to mention it on here?!

                    With regards to who uses what brand cue, I really doubt it matters as many professional players are not brand biased, they simply try out a number of cues and pick one they feel happiest with. For example why does Ebdon use an old machine spliced maple cue? Quite simply because he tried out over 100 cues and felt most comfortable with that one. I don't understand the story of Ebdon having two replica cues and selling them off for good money to travel to Dubai, I think we can all see that is a totally fabricated story just so you can have another knock at JP!

                    I have always advocated that if you are serious about getting a good cue then you should go somewhere where you can try them out, whether its a Parris, Mastercue or whoever, don't base your decision on the make.
                    The reason quite a number of pros use Parris is because he is, regardless of what many tell you, an excellent cue maker and is known to many of the professional players.

                      To be fair I've been looking at cues with getting a good one in mind and I've not been blown away with the ones that me friends have. The arrows on the shaft don't always go straight from the front of the cue, the splicing isn't always even and there is often a red blur from the glue at the points of the splices. I've only played with 3 and I've never seen an ultimate though!

                          Ronnie was actually with John Parris on Wed. and seems happy with the cue that was made for him, I'm certain you will be seeing him using a Parris cue this season.
