Usually tall guy will need a longer cue.

We are no pro, we have no personally coach to pin point our minor mistake.
To us, cue comfortablity is our main concern.

Hi Jakhals, I'm thinking of popping by their place in my next trip. Do you think they allow people to look around their workshop? Would like to see some cue making in action... Did you meet Mr Omin himself?

                  Cheers...

Try email to Omin directly. But reply is very-very slow. But you will get a good price. I bought 2 but still waiting for the second cue which already took 2-3 month. From Mudah also you could get a decent price. That guy from Klang sell omin with a reasonable margin unless you custom your cues, he will charge more but if ordered directly, no charge for custom cue.

Hi It is a good idea if you come to Thailand to go to Omin Cues yourself. I think O min also produces in bulk More sure if you go there then you will have a real O Min cue handmade .You can also choose one of those ready madee cues they have in the shop .They are nice cues too .Only depend what you want. A bit difficult to find but a good taxi driver will know the way to Minburi ( make sure you have the telephone number of O Min cues in your phone so you can let the taxi driver phone O Min for the way in case he do not find). Take a Thai sim card of course in your phone .If you are in the surroundings it is a very small shop and near the water. We had difficulties to find too.
Somkiat Kulwattanaporn is his real name yes he is almost every time there .I did ask to take photographs but was not allowed to take photos of the place where they make the cues. But I passed though it to go to the ATM machine at the bank. I could take photos in the shop where they sell the cues and where the snookertable stands to test the cue.Good thing is if you go you already have in mind what type of cue you want size, weight length, colour (not important for me). We had a 1 piece cue for daughter fitted to her size .Apparently they have different quality of wood low and cheap - normal and very good. I would suggest you take the very good quality like I did. It is not expensive I paid around 4300 bath ( around 100 euro) for a 1 piece handmade cue.About 2 2 hours and the cue is ready. You can see photos on facebook of my daughter http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...2281&sk=photos When I saw the place where they makes the cues I thought woow it is only that.It looks very old but he is the best cuemaker in Thailand. One tip not buy case because they more expensive than in the snookerclubs around in Bangkok.I changed only the tip because I did not like it If you want more info let me know.

There is a man in the office who speaks reasonable English what is exceptional in Thailand . I think he is the only one in the shop who speaks decent and understandable English.Maybe that is why it take a bit long to have email back. You can order by email if you know very well what you need this may not be a big issue.

Yes, I dont think the owner understand English. I think if we know someone there, it might be easier to order Omin cues rather than order online. But shipping we be the hassle thing. Unluckly, I dont have any friends in Thailand, so ordering online is the only option since Omin cues is very expensive here. Also agreed, the cue case from Omin or any other Thailand cuemakers is very expensive. Mostly around 2500 - 3000 bath for a decent aluminium case. Nice cue your son got there. cheers...

Thanks for the comprehensive information Jakhals, very much appreciated.

The Omin cues I've come across have very good playing qualities but those were probably the earlier ones, around 7 or 8 years ago. I'll be making another trip to Thailand later this year. Will definitely try to find some time to visit their shop in Minburi, maybe to buy a cue or two. Great that they have a snooker table for customers to test the cues. Hopefully I can get to see some cue making in action.

                            Thanks again.

                            Cheers...

Yes, prices seem to be going up. But I don't mind that much if the price hike is reasonable and the quality is not compromised. Omin makes a lot of cues and I guess those with very good shafts are probably for custom orders.
