  • Question about splicing

I've had a 3/4 cue hand made and was wondering if the single front splice (say kingwood) should line up with the corresponding ebony splicing and then the corresponding chevrons/arrows on an ash cue.

When the joint is fully locked on mine they dont.

Which means that the flat side of the butt is at a weird angle if i cue with the chevrons on top.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thankyou

It most certainly should. I did have to read again as it usually happens to an old 3/4 over time where the repeated wear on the join forces the butt to realign. Who made the cue may i ask? Seems very strange as its quite an easy job getting the alignment done.

If i was you I'd give Dave (Mastercraft) a call. Im sure he would take it back and either reset the join or if its not too bad they can skim the joins down. Quite suprised as they are always so good. Don't worry....its an easy fix.

Its better to be happy with your cue. All they would have to do it skim a tiny amount off either side of the face of each join and this would enable the cue to turn the extra amount in order to align back up.

                Just a quick question.

If you are looking at the cue from base to tip, what side does the flat end up on? Left or right? If its left then you will need a really really small amoun removed. If its right, its a little bit more. When you get it back you will not see much difference and will not affect the cue.

                    its slightly to the left.

I think i'll live with it. is it only very slight and hopefully over time that the way the joint will slip.

                    thankyou once again
