  • Cheapest unfinished machine spliced quality ash cue available?

    Hi all!!

    Ok, so I'm looking to save a little cash (due to rough finances!!) but I was wondering... I want to buy my dad a cue, and my cousins husband has bought a relatively standard cue (with no brand name) for around 10 or 15 quid, which I think is quite decent and similar to what my dad likes. However, since it was bought 2nd hand and at a sort of yard sale, I was wondering which cues are reasonably priced, yet unfinished with a machine-spliced hardwood butt. I'm looking for one I can oil finish preferably. Something on the lines of a Powerglide Midas, but with better quality wood?? Not very particular about looks, main thing is that it be a decent playing cue. Preferred specs are;

    Center joint
    9mm tip
    Balance around 17inches from butt
    18 to 19 ounces

    Any suggestions??

      Your not going to get anythiny decent for under £65 which is a craftsman machine made , unless you find one on ebay .

      On saying that i,m not entirely sure if craftsman still make that cue .

        someone i knew used to know owned a pool hall. he got so fed up with playing pool that he started playing against people with a broom handle(broom head still attached on the other end). if you beat him you got another hour free. if he beat you, you just got laughed at untill you left..... maby you can give your dad your moms broom. while not playing pool he can put it to good use and keep the wife happy

          Well, see, I'm looking for a decent piece of ash.. Not the craftman standard, but just not 'dead'.. Even a laquer cue is alright, so long as its not a painted butt! But I would prefer an unfinished one, which would be easier to re-finish without having to take the laquer off. Even a mass produced cue is fine, just a playbale shaft and a hardwood butt. Hope I'm being clear!

            Hark! Just remembered! I think Andrew was selling some cue-craft one's for not so much! Which he said he picked, which were decent playing cues.. Looking for something like that! Even un-branded is fine really..

                      That looks a pretty decent cue!! Budget is much lower unfortunately!! plus, I'm looking for one I can re-finish, and this does not look like it needs anything!! Hoping to save the cash on the finish... But that is a nice-looking cue!! If not for my Peradon Royal, would be very interested!!

                          Hi Andrew!! Well, what would the minimum be in that case?? I'm thinking back to your seasonal offers!! The chepo cues you were selling?? Or was that just a once in a lifetime deal??

                            your budget stated was 100 euro. Thats 86 pound according to my caluations.... willys cue is only 60 pound posted.... buy his cue and save the oil for you honeymoon Otherwise your better getting your mates to start a fight at your local club. While everyone is busy breaking the fight up, steal one of those 3 pound club cues and give that to your dad.
